I take it you are talking about Generals and the such. Hereis one og my favourites.

'Black Bob' Crawford was a prety cool character. Harsh, small tempered and loved by his men. commanded the British light division. Unfortunatly killed during battle, although I can't remember which at the moment.

I'll post more later

Black Bob Crauford died 5 days after being wounded at Cuidad Rodrigo in 1812. He'd led his troops into a breach in the city walls.

marshal Jean Lannes... the man who, facing the walls of Ratinbon, grabbed a ladder and told his men "I'll show you that before I became a marshal I was a grenadier", and stormed towards the walls... he (surprisingly) survived this battle, but did not lived to see the conclusion of the second Austrian campaign of Napoleon... I think he died at Essling.

A man of courage, who fought alongside his men.

Right on Rosacrux

Or what about Marshal Ney - bravest of the brave.

On the retreat from Russia he walks into a tavern just in Germany, in rags with beard, he's confronted by some clean looking officers "who are you?" they state.
"I'm the rear guard, Im' Ney marshal of France"

Or words to that effect, I understand that he was the last man out.

Anyone else feel sad about the fate of Marshal Ney, hanged for treason? There is something disarmingly childlike and romantic about the guy - promising King Louis "I'll bring him (Napoleon) back in an iron cage" and then succumbing to Napoleon's charms. Plus I feel a little sorry for him, trying his best at Waterloo with a lethargic and unhelpful Napoleon (when he had a break through at La Haye Saint and requested reinforcements, Napoleon growled "Troops? Do you think I can manufacture them?" He had about 13,000 troops of the Imperial Guard unused at the time).

Ney? The most interesting figure in Napoleon's staff... too bad the Russian campaign turned this brave, extremely capable and inspiring (to his men) officer, to a brave-to-the-point-of-sillyness officer... but watching hundreds of thousand of men die for nothing can do that to a man. not to mention that the few who made it actually owe it to Ney, who fought like a lion as the rear guard of Le grand armee... not "grand" at all at the time of course.

This was a terrible end for such a great hero, I suppose the Bourbons demanded it after surrendering his army to Napoleon on his return in 1815. You know that part of the film Waterloo has it almost 100% correct, can you just imagine the power of the man

One of the most interesting characters is Marshall Bernadotte. One of Napoleon's right hand man, he was adopted by the Swedish king, rose to the Swedish throne, then fought against Napoleon with the rest of the Allies. His line still rules Sweden today, and is still considered traitor by the French.

Dessaix was the one that saved the day at Marengo. His words were: "A battle was lost. It is three o'clock, we have time to win another."

The empire's first sabre, Napolean Cavalry commander Murat
seems to be an interesting man, He was an excellent rider and swordsman. But he was vain as well.. wore a theatrical uniform and hat and perfumed. He also rode on a horse with harness larvishly decorated in gold in battle imagain that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
