Ok, I'm not a fan of polls, but I thought this one might be useful. Since VI has been out for two months and we've seen no patch for some pretty lousy bugs, I'm hoping if CA sees there are a lot of us still playing the game, it might encourage them to give us a hand.
If players have quit playing, perhaps they will see they need to fix it so more people will play again.
Or, there's no need to patch because it's an "old" game now and it would be a waste of time.

Still playing, both MP and SP. But not nearly as much as before, although that's not due to the bugs, but simply more because of an "been there done that" effect.
Not playing that much anymore.
Many other games with much better support.
I still love the TW series, always will.

I am still playing but to a much lesser extent than pre-VI.
I still love the game but the 56-bug really hurt the role-playing fun of the SP campaign IMO.
I am still kind of hoping that a patch will come but until then I am hesitant to spend a lot of time with campaigns of which I would not fully enjoy (terrible thing is that I already started to like the positive additions of VI, so I will not go back to 1.1 either).
In the meantime I spend my time with other games (including STW from time to time) and other things than gaming

I am not going to buy VI.
I don't think that it has big improvements ... but it has big bugs that make the game worst.
I will wait for RTW.

Still playing, IV, but less.
If not for the WesW mod and *my* Hardcore rules, I'd be playing MUCH less.
The dearth of other compelling games, also plays a factor. Though, I recently read review of Rise of Nations, so all I need is a sale and I'll probably pick that up.
Once Half-Life 2 and/or Homeworld 2 come out, MTW will be shelved, though remain on the hard drive.
Go thread, in that no question, patching for bug fixes, in addition to "patches" which improve and/or add elements to the game directly aid in maintaing interest in a game. Half-Life being a prime example, 5 year old game still going strong.
I am not playing MTW right now. Stopped playing some time ago after that Patch VI-Thread started.
I finished Shadows of Undrendtide yesterday and will probably start Warcraft III again, did not continue after the Orc Campaign, was not too fond of the Dark Elves. But I will this time, and then continue with Frozen Throne.
Right now I am still playing Vice City.
As long as is there no patch for MTW:VI , I cannot stand playing it anymore... too frustrating
This may sound harsh, but as long as CA does not offer acceptable patch support, I will not anger myself by playing or buying their games.
MTW is really GREAT, among the best games I know - perhaps I should switch back to MTW 1.1, VI added new features but really annoying new bugs. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

I still play occasionally when i have nothing else to do.
Medieval, like shogun before it, is one of those games you will always keep on your HD IMO.
The best thing to do is to leave it for a while, play other games, then go back to it after a month or so.
I learn't this from shogun, so medieval is still quite fresh. But i do have to admit that this is aided by great mods. I am not playing at the mo (playing guilty gear X2), i am waiting for MedMod to be finished, so again left it for about 3 weeks and it will be still enjoyable to play.

I am working on mods for MTW 1.1 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif playing a little bit.
WILL NOT buy VI until it is properly patched.
The "so-called addons" many of which should have been in MTW or at least patched in v1.1 just arent worth me spending money on, especially with the huge bugs in VI that i hear about. If i want new units i can go d/l them in the dungeon - $30 for bugs and boiling oil doesnt sound like a great idea to me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Same old same old, not buying unless patched.
Im only now getting into the mods for 1.1 very nice.
btw, how is shadow over undrentide? is it worth it?
Not playing without a way to save between battles. But not buying VI until bugs it introduces are fixed.
Simple as that. Anxious about RTW because of seeming inevitability of bugs, and no support.
Shadows of Undrendtide has a nice campaign, you will reach level 13 if you start from the beginning.
The new blackguard prestige class and the fitting all black armor is nice, as are the prestige classes. It is more challenging for a fighter class than the really easy NWN original campaign.
It is however only 2-3 Chapters, and very linear.
For modders and those who want the new tilesets it is a must, but even those great new prestige classes are not really worth too much money... the campaign is nice however, but it is - no wonder - only a shorter add-on. About 1/3 of the original game I would say.
You could say, it is just more of the same with a really better and funnier, but shorter campaign, so I cannot recommend it for everyone without hesitation.
I did not play NWN for some time and really liked it, but as with most expansions, it is nearly as much money as for the original game while not delivering something really new.
But I can recommend it nevertheless. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Hope I did not confuse you too much... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Still playing VI at times...would luv to see the 56 yrs old bug be gone though.
I had that 56 year old bug cause me a game first time playing a vikings. I knew of the bug, but just stopped paying attention after awhile. And finally lost my king before he had heir, but had Many Previous Princes go for the thrown, civil war. I decided to restart.
Not any more. But not because all of the bugs or got bore with MTW.
I am playing STW for over 3 weeks now.

Playing VI, and liking it very much. Honestly, the bugs don't annoy me very much, and I just love all the new units.
Oh I started my very first GA campaign the other day. As the French, on hard. I've been playing on normal up to now. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get bored with the game.... probably not until Rome is out. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Playing VI pretty steady. The 56 bug has caused me frequent hair loss, but I'm still going at it. Hope the patch comes soon.
I'm playing VI, but I still want a patch for it or I will definately not buy Rome.
I havent played in a while. Ive got too many good games to play rather than having to put up with buggy programs that may never be patched. i may return when wes puts out his new mod. i also wont buy rtw until vi is patched.

I haven't played MTW or VI for a couple months. I like the game, but the bugs (and CA's - Activision's response) bother me. I may play v. 1.1 in the future, but I have plenty of other things to do. I'll be busy for quite a while with other games and other projects. But Activision and CA have my money already. I've bought 4 of their games (STW, MI, MTW, VI). What incentive do they have to fix anything? Are they really going to fix something on the off-chance that I'll not buy RTW or GI (Germanic Invasion)? I'm not sure they care.

I'm not buying VI until I see a patch that smooths over the issues such as 56 year regicide.
And I likely won't be buying RTW until the second or third patch, given that it's a new engine...
Still playing 1.1, would like to have some of new VI features but dont think its worth it with the discussed bugs, esp. the 56 bug, i really like the uncertainty of death and succession aspect of the game and that would totally ruin it for me. the rome time period doesnt excite me too much so i guess i'll stick with 1.1 (since they clearly wont ever patch VI), maybe i'll try some of the mods?

75 votes, but 691 views. Not enough to show CA the interest is still alive for a patch, but maybe...
What else could we do?
i will take sole credit for the patch being announced in response to my 7/16 post http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hi there,
OK, this is gonna sound stupid but here goes...
I've just bought VI (that's not the stupid bit, or maybe it is). Lots of talk about bugs, especially the 56 one. Not played yet but can't see why that would be too much of a problem. Anyway, just for my interest, can someone point me to a thread which lists/describes the known bugs - I'm sure there is one somewhere. Are there 'workarounds' for these bugs?
Cheers.
The 56 year bugs did not bother me in the Viking Campaign. The longer normal campaigns have this bug, and it is quite annoying there.
The Quicksave feature is often bugged, too. Interestingly mostly in the old Medieval Campaign. Sometimes you cannot reload your Quicksaves after and before a battle - annoying if you fought half an hour or so and then you go away, want to continue and everything is fucked up.
No real workaround so far, except not using Quicksave and keep your king breeding... hehe... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
To be perfectly honest I didn't even realize there was an age bug for the heirs. I did think it odd when five monarchs would die at a time but I was too busy fighting and stuff and stoping rebellions to worry about it.
And for the other bugs, I didn't notice them because I'm always changing things for the game so I assumed I had caused it.

1.1 is still superb--probably the finest all round game out there, imo.

i stopped playing MTW for a couple o months, then 2 days ago i finally god VI..... to my surprise, it lags my computer http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif, this low fps doesnt happen to the orginal game, only the expansion. so im not really enjoying VI so far. cant even play battle mode, too bloody laggy. im forced to play only campaign mode http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif. so frustrating.
also, is it just me, or is VI harder than MTW? lol the campaign map >_<
also whats this 56 bug everyones talking about?
I am still playing VI and i want this patch. It seems that the VI patch is under development, great news for all of us, the VI patch means that CA is listening to the Total War community requests.

Very good point to make note of. A bit OT, but do you think that in some future incarnation of the Org that this "statistic" could be broken down and displayed to reflect, not only the broad number of "Views", but additionally, the number of "distinct" views, that is the numbr of "different people visited it".
Just something to shoot for perhaps....

I thought it`s over but I`m playing VI more and more again. Hell, I only played one dark age campaign, it`s time to try the Vikings themselves.
Why not make a feature that shows how many thought about opening a topic?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
TS - Considering it's a custom made board (ikonboard) it might be hard to change... Course, had it been php, i could probably have done it myself (at least for the ones with fixed/static IPs) but it would require changing a lot of code...

All generals and kings die at age 56. See this thread for further discussion:

I just finished a recent campaign. I haven't decided when I will start the next one, though I have the patch now (my CD writer is difficult to use as it is under a Japanese OS which my wife doesn't know how to use), but as yet haven't installed it.
I am playing Baldur's gate II now, I have a few chess programs I use now and then, and I play backgammon and chess online.
I have had a few crashes with MTW, but overall it's a great game with a lot of replayability. One thing that sucks is that I can not save more tham 20 games or so (the game comes with 100 slots) or I risk the program crashing. I don't know if this was fixed by the patch.

Haven't touched MTW since last saturday. That makes it almost a week, which makes it kind of a record for me. This is the longest time I've voluntarily stayed off the game.
But on monday I finished MOHAA Spearhead, yesterday the original MOHAA came to an end and the last x-pack, Breaktrough is on its very late missions.
So, I'm on a slump right now. Don't want to play Medieval, my alternative games are way too short (MOHAA and its two expansions barely lasted me 2 months from start to end.)and wont reinstall Age of Empires or Cossacks. I guess a trip to the comp. store is in order. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-anxious.gif

Holy thread-resurrectification Batman
Guys, this is before the VI patch, when we were all crying for a patch, but not getting one. Eventually they released one, though, and most of these problems are fixed.
...Still haven't bought VI... I wouldn't get it till the patch, and since that came out so late, why buy it when RTW will be coming out soon? (ornot so soon)

Rome won't be out until late November at best, I can just about promise you. In the meantime, the fourth version of the Medmod is nearing completion, and for some of you guys who haven't played it since before the patch. Oh....My...God.
This mod is going to become the new standard for quality in the Total War series. Unsolvable problems have been solved, new concepts created and successfully implemented in version three are being taken further, things added like a new, much more realistic strategic map, which will not be a huge download, btw.
You guys need to start peeking into the Alchemist Lab every now and then for the next few weeks, since I'll be posting different things as they are finished, for people to look at and comment on.
Those of you who have known me for a long time here, like Old Guy, hopefully perceive me as not being the boastful type, but I just can't contain myself with what is transpiring here.
There may not be many people who view this resurrected file, so spread the word around after you have done some checking around in the Lab.
The biggest thing to ever happen to the game as it is meant to be- about the medieval era and especially the warfare, is about to be unleased.
I describe it this way because I don't know a lot about the mods that turn the game into something different- Middle Earth, Ancient Greece, the Napoleonic Era, etc. Their work might be far superior to mine, I don't know, but I do know about the work that has been done on the basic game, and there is simply nothing else out there that is going to hold a candle to this baby once it's balanced and ploished.

I think VI is a most. Yes, it has the 56 bug, but a patch fix it. The new units are very good, viking campagn is fun and gameplay is better. VI don't cost that much and IMO there are no games as good as MTW. I have played Shogun for some years and thereafter MTW after it came out. VI should had been a part of the original game, but it's cool to have it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

Still play STW on occasion. Have been playing a lot of VI games lately though mainly to get a feel for the time period, units, tech etc for our mod Fury of the Northmen.
