maps don't appear

I've recently downloaded a variety of maps which all appear in the map editor list but only a few appear when I want to use them for custom battles. They have all been saved in the savemap directory. Any ideas?

I've a question for you: in what game are you having troubles with the maps not showing? STW? WE? MTW? VI?

You must put them in another folder, I can't recall it atm. I think it's somehwere around where your replays are stored.

Brutal, I know that was the case with STW. The readme file for MTW has a section on the map editor and nowhere does it mention saving them anywhere but in the Savemap directory. I don't have the time now, but maybe an readme file with one of the MTW map packs will have the information needed.

Excellent idea, Gregoshi I'm not home either but quickly downloaded a small mappack from .net, where it states you need to put them into the battle/maps/ directory

I don't know about the mapeditor, I'm not good at handling it, so I can only guess that when the editor saves a map to the savemaps folder, it also applies some kind of tag that tells the game to look for this map in the savemaps directory. Now, if you just copy new maps in that directory, that reference is missing and the game doesn't recognise them. Or perhaps you need to move all your created maps from the savemaps to the battle/maps dir manually, and the savemaps was just provided to give you an easy to recognise folder where you could also save your unfinished maps without fear of accidently choosing them in custom or MP battles and crashing your system in the process...

Btw, jiriki, the above location applies for MTW and MTW VI and as Gregoshi said for STW too. Enjoy your maps
