I am impatient to play some of the new factions now that Lysander has fixed the CTD crash. Has anyone uploaded any new MODs?

WHERE ARE THEY?

The Interregnum Mod is good, search for it in the BBS...the MedMod is good, but doesn't use different factions..

you could always, you know, do it yourself - DIY modding

Well, the full version is going to have a *lot* of new, mostly small factions, and the existing factions are going to be almost new from the mod's changes.

I would like a "patch" mod that includes all the VI fixes for the regular campaign, including the "new" factions (w/o the 56 year bug if possible http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ). I don't want to buy a new expansion just to patch my regular campaign.

The VI expansion pack, ins't a patch man. Its an expansion pack. You cant create a patch that would update like the expansion would. Its kind of naive to say "i wouldn't buy a patch". You know its more than a patch, it includes tons more units boats buildings, and one new historical battle. Im sure many people would agree with me on this. Sorry if this sounds rude, but I just dont like it when people say they "shouldn't" have to do things, its immature. Not saying that I am better than any1. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif Someone just agree with me hehe..

for the sake of community - i'll agree http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
(it'll cost you jk)

seriously though, i wouldn';t buy a patch fullstop. i mean, you may as well do it yourself, or better yet, get some nice people in the dungeon to do it for you

I could make a mod that adds the new units for the regular campaign from VI and enables the two factions in a similar way. I'm not going to though, because as far as I'm concerned that would constitute theft. The new units and factions, while we could do them ouselves, are part of the expansion pack content and so are the moral property of CA. Buy VI if you want any of it. It isn't so expensive, but if you don't want to pay, do without.

Many commands that enable new factions are exclusive to VI. Additionally, mods will not have all the misc. files for shields etc. that come default for VI. Anyone that does not have VI won't be able to run any of the MODS regardless.

His loss...

LOL Look who started the initial thread on how to add new factions. It was me. Try reading through 8 pages of that post then come back and lets talk.

hehe, i'm not saying they should or should not do things a certain way, I fully understand that it was a business decision not to fix the game beyond 1.1. But being a customer, i have the right to comment on how they do business with me. Many of their competitors DO make numerous as well as large patches containing major changes(not a new game, such as the viking campaign, but enhancements as well as bug fixes), ex. Paradox, Battlefront, among many others. I am just saying I WOULD LIKE to have these fixes and if someone was to make them, it would be nice. I absolve all responsiblity regarding legal problems one might encounter in such an endevor. I sure as hell won't do it(out of laziness, of course). No lectures please.

There are plenty of mods w/ new factions tho, check out the patrician mod, w/ a whole new campaign.

Now that the walk-around for the CTD bug has been posted, everyone and their grandmother has been working on creating new factions for their mods. I had originally planned (before the fix) to add in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Sweden, Lithuania, and maybe an African faction or two, but it would be futile to add it into my mod with the hope of being unique, which was my original plan. I think I'll just stick with adding new and interesting units instead, and let the other people handle the factions.

I have one that is about 55% right now. I am having some issues with buildings and some units that are not coming up where they should be. I am hoping that by the end of next week, maybe having it ready to post here. Right now it has:

1.Scotland
2.Wales
3.Flanders
4.Bohemia (heretic with priests)
5.Denmark
6.France
7.Burgundy
8.Genoa
9.Venice
10.Rome (no Pope)
11.Aragon
12.Spain
13.Sicily
14.Almos
15.Turks
16.Egyptians
17.Byzzies
18.Hungarians
19.Poles
20.HRE
21.Nov/rus
22.England
23.Teutonic Order
24.Portugal (possibility)

maybe a couple of more if I can find some information and shields for them. I am also taking requests.

The units will be more regionalized (if I can get the balance close) so there won't be a standard well balanced army from any countries home territory. I hope it gives a little more flavor to the game and some tactical difference between the cookie-cutter catholic factions.

Those MODS do not contain new factions, but rather renamed "old" factions. I like the early period and was looking for some new 'added' factions -- Lithuanians, Kievans, Khazarians, Swedes, Navarre, etc in addition to the old ones.

I really enjoyed playing your MOD and I hope you reconsider your decision. Adding some new factions would really add a lot of flavor to it.
