\"Men Getting Stuck\"-- Test Results

Well, I did a bunch of tests involving the RDM spear units with side-to-side spacing of 55..

I TRIED, and I TRIED, and I TRIED!

No luck getting any archers stuck..

No luck getting any cav stuck..

I was messing with spears, telling 4 units to all go to the same exact location, blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah you name it I tried it. Could NOT get them to get stuck. I almost gave up until---

I set up 3 units as a sequence of "filters", 6+ ranks deep..

Put one unit behind the whole thing, in a column 3 men wide..

Ordered it to go through all three units..

And *1* guy got stuck! He was trying to rejoin his unit but he just kept hitting his comrade in the back, bouncing around and what not. All it took was different movement orders though and he unstuck himself.

Now I'm not about to go back and spend even *more* time testing this out, but I would seriously suspect that if you took 4 spear units with standard 75 side-to-side spacing and did the same test I just described, someone would get stuck too.

So basically it's a moot issue. I should've gone and tested it out sooner.

Okay, basically in the Real Deal mod spearmen were placed closer together, and a few people here got all concerned about the possibility of people getting stuck in this situation, and were using it as a tentative rebuttal to that particular stat. I finally tested it out. That's all.

I guess none of the rest of you were in on the situation so my post must have seemed.. random. Hope this explains it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
