There i was, happily building up the hungarians (first time).

Infastructure going nicely and all boarders protected adequately. Right, lets make a battle plan, i'll attack there with my king, oh, hang on, i'll check how many sons i have just in case.............ZOIKS http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

My king is 49 and has no sons. But i heard that there is dare i say it, a cheat to gift thee with a son.

I hate (with a passion) cheating but i see no way out, so could someone plz help me out.

I think you are reffering to the .unfreeze. cheat that gives you an heir, no worries evryones been using this lately http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif P.S. just type in .unfreeze. anytime during normal gameplay.

Yep, .unfreeze. is the cheat you need, but if your king is already 49 then it is too late to use it, as the cheat only 'gives birth' to a son so you will still have to wait 16 years for him to mature and your king will already be dead by then (56 year bug).

On a lighter note, CA are now going to fix the bug with a Patch, it probably won't help your current campaign but you won't face this problem in the future.

THere is an alternative that I cannot verify myself. I have heard that the king won't die as long as he is on a crusade. So just unfreeze(type .unfreeze. ) an heir and start a crusade that leaves when the king is ready to croak.


P.S: your king won't die at 56 if you did not buy the expansion to Medieval Total War.

If you're handy with that sort of thing I believe you can go through the save file with a hex-editor and change the kings age. I'm not sure since I've never tried it. If you do I'd suggest backing up the file first.
