after doing a search for co-op I only found my question from months ago. Has there been anyword on co-operative battles against the computer.

I understand a co-op or multiplayer campaign may be too difficult to make but to be able to do co-op battles even historical battles would make this game perfect IMO

Quite some fun/use imho. Granted, extremely good players will wipe the floor with any AI. But give the AI some advantage like extra units and the story will change.

Another option is to field extra units in MP and place them under AI control (fill 4v4 battles when there are only 5 players). I guess that the human player would like to have some basic control about these units, like guard flank, mob up, hold ground and attack now. Perhaps even drain some units out of this pool and place them under direct command after losing some of his own (or exchange tired/damaged units).

Yep it can still be very fun and my buddies and I wish all the time that there was a way to have 2 against the AI.

You can set any number of scenarios...

Hell co-op or multiplayer in campaign mode would be cool, but I think just this side of impossible to impliment.

Agree RangerLee, co-op scenarios could be quite nice.

Yeah, somehting similar to the custom battle options in MTW would be great.

2 or more players can join and then create AI sides in much the same way you can set up custom battles.

Just the option to include extra AI sides in a MP game would be great

Now that would be cool http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yes, and also co-op (fictional) historical battles. You could create all kind of scenarios (like fighting out of an ambush) also for training purposes.
