Useless Yari Cav... HAH!

I always thought that Yari cav were basically useless units. I figured they couldn't hold their own... until today. I was playing Uesugi on medium. I had one yari cav unit of 100, and, two battles later, it had 49. Now that seems bad, but when you count their 478 kills, they're GOOD!

Thoughts, comments? Whatever.

I have always used Yari Cav. to hunt down routing enemies...therefor the got a lot of kills... And when they reached like 3,4, or 5 in their base honour I used them as a charge force..!

I like to have a few units of YC around simply because their the only ones who can chase down those pesty CA.

YC are effective in certain roles. They should not be used against Yari infantry, but against non-spear infantry and against most cav they are quite good.

A wise Taisho always has a yari cav in his army in SP, this way when you defeat them and they run, you are sure they won't come back on another day!

Yari Cavalry ensures less chances of the enemy regrouping and you can use it to send his guns and projectile units to oblivion if he is careless.
I do not use them so often in multiplayer cause the enemy most of the times has heavy infantry like YS and monks that kick some serious cav ass.

Yes l had 178 kills with a yari cavalry. 100 or even more were the chasing kills. The pour enemy didn't had the chance to regroup even one unit.

In original STW, or before 1.0.2 patch, YC is pretty good in destroying other cavalry because of the Yari bonus.

After 1.0.2, I wouldn't risk using them for that purpose too often except for intercepting CA. YC just doesn't have a chance against the enhanced HC now.

True that the YC are good for chasing the routers, but I used these cav on the line. Was it merely luck that they managed that many kills???

Yari Cav don't have overall bright stats as the Heavy Cav or the Naginata cav. But if you look at the charge bonus you will notice it is 15, which is the highest in the game!!! Therefore a Yari Cav attacking at full speed on an unattended unit in a flanking/rearing manouver will really kick hard! and probably beat any unit in this case, except Yari Sam, maybe.
