Any mirrors of 2.0+ anywhere? Wes' site seems to be down... I downloaded the older version from the .org site, but i get an error when i try to load (says something like faction egyptian does not exist) so i figured id try a newer version... It really sucks, since my friend borrowed the game to see if it worked on his comp, and now i cant get the cds back since he's on holidays :-/

Wes Poly site looks ok and running, maybe it was offline while he upgraded from v2.03 to 2.04 .. .)

Was offline for a day or so.

Yeah, Apolyton is bad about being off-line for various reasons. They seem to come in rashes, and another rash may be getting started. This time you refer to, I had removed the 2.03 version, then found out something was wrong with 2.04, and then couldn't reconnect with Apolyton when I got the mod problem fixed, for a day or so.

On a happier note, I have sent in versions of 1.85 and 2.04 here to the org, so hopefully on one else will be stuck like you were (small comfort I know). http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hello WesW,

1.85 is mirrored at org (downloaded by staff). Which is the best version to post?

Put up both 1.85 and 2.04, since they are for regular MTW and VI respectivly. Oh yeah, also make that clear on the .org - it was impossible to know if 1.85 supported VI when I downloaded it... Had to reinstall entire MTW :-/ (Right now I think it says: 1.85 (VI?))

Thanks for the great mod WesW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

You're welcome, jLan.

Yeah, the reason I have both versions up is because they are for the two versions of the game (1.1 and 2.0).
The reason the new version of 1.85 gives you an error message when you load it, is because I made some changes to the readme to try and make the installation and game version clearer. I had stuck a few files I was working on for the VI mod in the 1.85 folder, since I didn't think I would be fooling with 1.85 any more, and then forgot they were still in there when I loaded the new 1.85 version.

I have added some warnings on my webpage about incompatibilities between versions, but for the zips you get from 3D, about all I can do is make a note in the Readme, which won't do the downloaders any good unless they view it before they install the mod.
Time was, most everyone knew to do this, but now a lot of people new to mods just expect everything to be plug-n-play, and so they don't check before they install.

Barocca or Tosa or whomever does the downloads probably needs to start making notes for the 3D descriptions declaring whether the mod is for 1.1 or VI. When the Viking patch comes out, our mods may have to be updated for it as well, so things may get even more confusing.

As for the Medmods, I am working on the full VI version, so there will be three versions available for whatever a player wants to use the mod for. (The 2.04 version doesn't make any changes to unit stats, for people who like that part of the game just the way it is.)

There is a new sticky in the Dungeon for modders to list a brief description of the mod(s), so that people can decide what they want before they download, and which should also declare which version of the game their mod is designed for. This should clear up the confusion for people who stop by the Dungeon, but of course not everyone does.

Please have mercy upon me and include notes about what a zip is. Map/mod/campaign, MTW/VI/both version, who made it. It's not always clear.

MedMod 1.85 is MTW 1.1 only and 2.04 is VI? I'll update it next time.

"MedMod 1.85 is MTW 1.1 only and 2.04 is VI?"
