Hi,
Playing MTW made me want to paly again ol'Shoggy too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
My preferred part is the Strategic game (even if it's somewhat weak in Shoggy ...), and I've found previously that Geishas just ruined it :when they appear daimyos drop like flies, clans are eliminated, etc...
I don't think they can be changed to something more balanced - sort of superior emissary/spy/ninja as they should be IMHO, but I think they're pretty easy to eliminate altogether, by just removing the Geisha House - or better changing it to Legendary Ninja House producing only Legendary Honor Ninjas ...

I know how to mod MTW units and buildings (stat-wise http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )but not that much about STW : can someone point me what files I'd have to change and how they're structured ?

Thanks

I'm not sure about modding out the Geisha's, but there are some good links to STW mod infor here:
http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin....;t=8223 (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=8223)
in the Sword Dojo forum.

Thanks Kukri,
In fact I knew the post before but didn't pay attention to the part referring to the Campaign Editor... Will try it and see if it allows to make the changes I want.

Humm, no luck, the editor only allows editing of campaign maps, not of tech tree ... and I didn't find ANYTHING readable with building data in all STW folders http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
The units stats ARE easily modable in a simple txt file, but it looks like the building tree is program-driven, maybe it only has been put on data files for MTW ...

I can't change anything ... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

I remember seeing a thread about this before in which someone posted a fix...not sure where. Check the .com forums and the STW archives.

A plus tho is that highly devoloped province is out of commision for 8 turns it takes to train that geisha. Another thing by that time I usually have so many assassins that the geisha stands no chance. I just throw 10 ninjas at her even tho that many isnt necessary but I've only lost 1 heir due to a Geisha. The trick is not to let a geisha get more than 1 or 2 honour wich make her a poor threat to you mass ninja attack

The GothmogSPEdition has altered the building_choice.txt so that the Geisha house will no longer be produced.

http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/STW/stats.shtml

Understanding the format is my next project:) Next to go on my list is the Battlefield Ninja Dojo. The Kensai were easy to remove by just editing the unit_choice.txt so no Daimyo wants them even if they can build them.

Its probably just me but I consider those 3 units pretty cheesy.

If you can set the build price for geishas to 99999 then no faction will be able to afford building one.

Jacques Schtrapp,
Good suggestion, indeed I already thought of it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif , but I can't find ANYTHING in files relating to Geishas or other agents, be it price, abilities, buildings reqs... STW Agents seem Totally Hardcoded

Looks like the only way to remove the Geisha is to do what Gothmog did and simply stop Daimyo's from building the Geisha House.

You need to get the file from his mod or edit your building_choice.txt. From what I can tell the buildings are in the same sequence as they appear in the campaign editor. So the Geisha House is slot #15.

0 = Archery Dojo
1 = Famous Archery Dojo
2 = Legendary Archery Dojo

3 = Dutch Trading Post

4 = Tranquil Garden

5 = Horse Dojo
6 = Famous Horse Dojo
7 = Legendary Horse Dojo

8 = Cathedral
9 = Church

10 = Mine
11 = Mine Complex

12 = Ninja House
13 = Infamous Ninja House
14 = Geisha House

15 = Portugese Trading Post
16 = Gun Factory

17 = Spear Dojo
18 = Famous Spear Dojo
19 = Legendary Spear Dojo

20 = Tea House
21 = Famous Tea House
22 = Legendary Tea House

23 = Buddist Temple
24 = Famous Buddist Temple
25 = Legendary Buddist Temple

26 = Sword Dojo
27 = Famous Sword Dojo
28 = Legendary Sword Dojo

29 = Battlefield Ninja Dojo
30 = Drill Dojo

31 = Armory
32 = Famous Armory
33 = Legendary Armory

34 = Swordsmith
35 = Famous Swordsmith
36 = Legendary Swordsmith

37 = Improved Farmland
38 = Superior Farmland
39 = Famous Farmland
40 = Legendary Farmland

41,42,43 - unused (was going to be medical school)

44 = Border Watch Towers
45 = Border Fort

46 = Palace
47 = Famous Palace
48 = Legendary Palace

49 = port

50 = Small Castle
51 = Large Castle
52 = Fortress
53 = Citadel

Well, the numbers in the Buildings_Choice.txt files dosent match yours

For example first lines are :

balanced
{100, 120, 140, 200, 100, 100, 120, 140, 100, 100, 200, 100, 100, 120, 140, 170, 170, 100, 120, 140, 100, 120, 140, 150, 170, 200, 130, 150, 180, 150, 150,100, 120, 140, 100, 120, 140, 50, 50, 50, 50, 100, 120, 140, 15, 30, 100, 120, 140, 110, 30, 120, 120, 120,
}

Maybe they renumbered the buildings with MI/WE (I have WE) ?

Actually it does. There's 54 buildings in each list. If you look at the starting section of the building.txt you see this;

Quote[/b] ]bowmaker, dtrading, garden, horsery, jes_cat, jes_chu, mine, ninhouse, ptrading, spearery, teahouse, temple, swordery,

These 2 apply to Add-on only.
battlefield_ninja_dojo_id, drill_dojo,

armoury, shipyard, fort, smwoodcstl, woodcstl, lgwoodcstl, smstonecstl, stonecstl, lgstonecstl, citadel

Just keep in mind each building also includes its upgrades so it goes like this.

(campaign editor #)

Archery Dojo(0), Famous Archery(1), Legendary Archery(2), Dutch Trading(3), Tranquil Garden(4), Horse Dojo(5), Famous Horse(6), Legendary Horse(7), etc...

No edit feature for us peons?

Anyway the 100, 120, 140 is how badly the AI wants that particular building, same thing in unit_choice.txt. The AI will build the highest numbered ones first. 200 seems to be the max value and if you don't want them build something change the value to 0.

Pdifolco

Oh yes, it's clear now I thought the file referenced the buildings, in fact it references priorities, each building reference being its position...
So all I have to do is to put 0 on 15th position ? Looks quite easy. Too bad the AI won't get +2 Honor ninjas if they don't build Geisha house, but it'll do the trick.
Thx

If your worried about the AI not having good ninja's just build a lot of emmisaries and priests for them to practice on:)
