I've been and checked the Sword Dojo, and the craze for the Dynastic PBEM campaigns doesn't seem to have spread to Japan. Is this cos people only play Shoggy MP now? I would start a STW campaign, but I can't play battles in Shogun with my graphics card - its bad enough for MTW, unplayable in STW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

What do people think? Would a Shogun PBEM even be popular?

BTW, I've post in the EH rather than SD, as the Dojo seems pretty dead a lot of the time.

I think you'd find some interest in a STW campaign. I know that a few of us play it still and those who don't still havethe game and would love an excuse to dust it off and have a quick game.

I think it will take someone to organise the whole thing properly and decide on a few thigs.

I.e. which version of the game, just STW or with MI, then which faction and difficulty level.

BTW whats so wrong with your graphics card? MTW should stress it out much more than STW ever did. Maybe a quick trip to the apothecary could get you started off http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif

Nah, its not the power of the card thats the problem - its support. I've been to the apothecary a few times to try and improve its performance, but at the end of the day, the TW engine doesn't like the kyro2 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

I' be interested in a STW/MI dynasty game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
For your card just change it, a poor GF2 as I have should be no more than 40$ and it's more than enough for STW, and enough for MTW (I can play good-sized battles, say 2,000 men, with it on my Athlon 500 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif &#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I'd play. How would you decide when to switch between people?

I dont have mongol invasion, but I would be curious to see how folks fare with shimazu (or mori) on impossible, I have never managed to win with those factions myself.

That would be when the Daimyo dies and we get that lovely succession Movie on the screen...

Still it will be stange to do write-ups with rulers who don't have individual names.

EDIT: I have Mongol Invasion STW only (a friend of mine is borrowing the original STW CD as his introduction to Total War)

Most campaigns in Shogun are over well before the Daimyo dies.

Sounds interesting. Could someone please explain how it works?

Perhaps you could do it on a 5 or 10 year basis.

5 years would give each ruler 20 game turns to play out, and if you don;t get enough players willing, 10 will give you 40.

I'd play but i don;t have the Mongol Invasion expansion, and I suck at it as well. I completed my first campaign the other day on Normal as the Mori clan. I narowly won it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

To me the nice thing about a pbem campaign would be the way several different players styles and strategies would be mixed together, some people like to blitz through in 10 years while others build and win in 40.

This might get more of a response on the .com forums, there are more sp players there
