If you go online, get it. If not, wait for the patch.

As much as I dislike the 56-year-old-bug, VI is still very much worth it. It's quite excellent. The new era and new strategic map make it all worth your while.

personally i am going to wait for the patch. the unfinished games situation in the gaming industry has gone too far...

Buy VI, its got alot of new features that make it a hell of alot better than V1.1 even with the bugs. And hell the age bug doesn't bother me cos I never keep track of my Kings age, only his V&V's cos he is still as effective at 59 as he was 20 so why really bother looking at age, if you do keep track of age however, thats when the bug will annoy you.

Just curious,

So how do you feel when your 56 year old HIGH valour King with GREAT v&v dies and is replaced with a new King of low valour and crappy v&v? Doesn't that effect your game and strategy?

Anyway, to anyone hedging their purchase decision, just buy the game The Final outcome regarding the 56 year bug is that it causes the player to be more attentive and focused. On the positive side presents a greater challenge; on the negative, specifically if you are capable of controlling the to the degree that "Civil Wars" are a non-factor (and do not wish to deal with them), then be prepared to fight a few Civil Wars.

If you do not wish to deal with Civil Wars at all, or you ALREADY have enough trouble handling Rebellions/Revolts/Civil Wars, then perhaps waiting for the partch is what you should do.

Personally, I'd never (truly) fought a Civil War until the 56 Year Bug.

Finally I got VI, I have played a few hours ...

I saw that there are a lot of civil wars, for example one started in english countries in only 3 turns from the start

Well, I need more time for the experience http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Civil wars are a bunch of fun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Oh yeah, as mentioned in other threads - if you find your king getting 35+, type

.freeze.

while on the main campaign map. It will cause your king to start pumping out kids.. You need a small error margin though - remember it takes 16 years for the kid to maturetype .freeze. while the king is still less than 36 or so. You need a few years - the children he gets might be princesses http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Problem is that it also causes the AI to die at 56 too.

To me it's the same as having the perverted, crazy and coward king that lives for 70+ year. And you can't kill him because civil war and your enemies are waiting just for that. And I've noticed that unless the enemy gets a lucky shot and kills your king on the first suicide mission, you jhave to send him back at least three times to get him killed. By that time you have a brand new civil war on your doorstep.
I don't mind the 56-y-o-bug much, I just roll with the punches.
And yes. VI is worth every penny imho. Get it and DL the patch later, that way you can judge for yourself.

VI is worth it, even for just the new units that are available for the Hungarians, Sicilians, Novogrod, Danes, etc. Plus the added units that you can get from specific provinces adds some variety.
