Now I finding that the 10 number keys arent enough for me.. how I wish I can just say "unit 1", "group 3", "cav 2" to a mic, and a TW voice-recognition interface would select the unit(s) for me...

Now a goldfish is trying to shout to the microphone. How the world has changed...

If you look at some other games, voice commands in TW are seriously lacking. You can make your own setup on Game Voice (wich I did) but other games already have a nicely setup voice command interface.

This is a good topic to bring to the attention of CA.

Do I need the game to support Game Voice before I can use it?

Will it cause much lag in MP?

Is the voice recognition good? fish makes funny sound when shouting http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

then again.. fish needs more than 10 number keys

Tootee needs more than 10 number keys since he has 6 fingers on each hand. The addition of 2 more keys would be appreaciated by our fine fingered friend. hehe

Negative. The game does not need to support GV in order to use it.

Some games specifically support voice recognition MTW does not. You can still configure the Game Voice commands if you want to and they work.

Depends on your PC specs. With a standard PC with P3 1.5 and 64 Meg Graphix, ISDNm you will have 0 lag. If you have an older setup then you will get lag. If you have a p4 2.5 128 MB graphix ....it will run like Michelle Yeoh on a high.

GAH

Vanya plays mtw on a PC with the following specs. Vanya hopes you will say that this "game voice" thingie will work fine on this setup... (BTW, this is the PC in Vanya's bathroom, which He uses to play mtw while on the throne. Vanya's main PC is far more "modern" than the one specified below).

CPU: Pentium 486 50 MHz
RAM: 500 MB
Video Card: 16 MB TNT RIVA
Sound card: Soundblaster (something)
Free Disk Space: 47.2 MB
O/S: Win95 (Upgraded from 3.1, though lacking Win2K patch)
CD: 2X CD-ROM
Power Supply: Dual power supply provided by battery pack and running hamsters on treadmills.
Monitor: Monochrome
Modem: 14.4 Kbps

Extras:
Stacker v1.1 installed to "double" the original disk space from 250 MB to 500 MB.

Vanya plays 4v4s from time to time online with all of yaz from this PC... so "performance" is not an issue here. It also a blazing speedster (Vanya got the Speed Patch from CA 3 months ago, which makes all of this possible. To get it, just ask any CA person to "give you speed... give you what you need... speed speed")

however, the voice recognition is not perfect if you are from a non-english speaking nation. because you pronouce the words a little different everytime you speak, not used to speak them as much as americans or britons http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

but if you keep it short it sure will detect it after a couple of tries.

that means I have to speak in the exact accent (American, Brit?), or it can be trained to accept my natural accent?

You just have to speak in a way the software recognizes. It's easy enough. You can also abbreviate commands: Fire instad of open fire. Run, Charge, Attack etc..

Hi Sinan,
I tried to configure commands for gamevoice to use with MTW, putting in the game key commands, saying the command, getting the playback etc....It still would not work for me. I'm not sure, is voice command still possible in MP? The chat side of things is a great bonus online as it's so much quicker shouting HELP ME than typing it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
