I was playing VI full compaign as Spanish. The compass event showed, and it's 1300AD +, but I still can't produce high period units (Royal knights still the old one), and I can't produce any other ships byond the basic one.
I played MTW a lot before, and I don't understand what's wrong here... bug? or the high period starts at 1400AD?
Any hint?

Strange. I always play early period and never have any problems with the change to high period. And yes I'm playing with the VI expansion.

what year is the turn of high period?
You're confusing high and late. High starts early 1200's... Late I think sometime in the first half of 1300's
High start at 1205.
Late start at 1325 (or 1327?).
I only had that problem in some of my early year mods where I changed the starting years. I haven't seen the problem in the original game.

Playing as English in early period.
Building like mad to get elite units in specific areas
eg
longbowmen - wales
billmen - mercia
and decent ships elsewhere
build the castles and improvements only for units not to appear http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
Whats up with it i thought it was just me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif
Anyone else? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

longbowmen and billmen are high period units. no matter what buildings you got since the patch 1.1 you have to wait until 1205 to build them. only in the original version can you build them as soon as you have the building.
with ships only the first 2 avaialbe to catholics (caravels and bargues hell i don't know) are avaialbe without gunpowder. the rest you must wait for compass and gunpowder before you can build the last 2 ships.
the brown ship (?) icon is only avaialbe after high period as well. so until 1205 your stuck with that basic ship (blueish icon!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif and galleys if your italian.
This new turn of age thing seems a bit daft to me

Surely the point of MTW was to build as fast as you could if you have the money, then you get rewarded by cooler units.
Waiting for the (accurate) timeline to catchup sounds really stupid http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif
No not impressed by this adjustment to the rules. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
If they want to change the rules this much, there should have been more basic early units for all factions. They made these units with VI but then proceeded to make them only available to the rebels, big mistake in my opinion. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
I know what you are gonna say mod the game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
but i am only the intel of an amoeba when it comes to computers, seige warfare now thats another story http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Wait for MedMod 3 I think it will fix all the boring Early Period things. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
