What faction do u use most

Just a little survey to see what your favourite early online faction to play as is ?

Im currently playing as the HRE.
Also I would be interested to know do you always use the same faction, no matter what the terrain or do u change with terrain and who the enemy are ?

In VI, seldom play early, but when I do, I'll take Almohads mostly.. regardless of terrain/enemy.

I usually take Almos in Early. I do take the others too, all depends on what game style I want to play.

Mameluks, Turks, Almohads and the occasional Novogrod warrior...

Novogrod has strong units at early. It is actually one of the most popular choice for the era. Pity it is in the "other" category. It is my vote.

The Danes are still quite a viable option for Early, for same reason as the Novogrod: Vikings rock.

Byzantine is of course "the" faction to use in Early. If Byzantine couldn't do well in early, who else? I see Byz as second choice in Early era online.

An is correct, the Byz have an advantage in early. The Almos are the best desert fighters. Rus (Novogorod), Hungarian, and Italian are also good. I try to play a variety of factions in early.

One of the good things with VI is the new Early army composition; no more crusader units (templar, order foot....) that makes all cath armies look the same.

That kind of opened the game + addition of new faction (Aragon + Novgorod) also make this era much more attractive.

My personnal favorite is Almo, followed closely by Novgorod and Turks (both for cav purposes...). I feel like giving Aragon a chance...

Byz may seems stronger but is not actually played that much (according to my logfile database), and not with a lot of success. The low win ratio of byz might be related to, either beginners attracted to their reputation of solidity, or Sinan playing them undercover http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Unfortunately, there are not that many games hosted in early (beside ichi making some good promotions ) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif . I think they are now much more attractive than they were in 1.1.

I don't really have a faction preference, neither in early, nor in any other era. I just pick the faction I feel like taking, unless I see a massive Byz buildup at my opponents in a team game, then I'll choose carefully.
