Well, to start with, you can not change your Avatar untill you have posted 500 times, and even then it has to be an avatar from those available, you can't link to one.

If you want the picture in your sig at the bottom however, just go to your control panel and enter the Url for the picture into your sig as you would put an image into an ordianary post.

However I think there is a limit to the size of the picture you can use in your sig, can't remember what it is though.

This is a new feature that allows Junior Members to link to a custom avatar of there own it is not displayed in the regular skins but can be viewed by placing your mouse over the current avatar and clicking which will bring up a small pop up window displaying the new avatar.
