Did anyone noticed how the face of the roman general has changed?

I liked the first one better. The second one looks like a wimp.

I think they both look a bit pale - are these undead generals? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

V+V Undead General

This commander is a zombie. While this makes him impossible to kill in personal combat, his troops find it unsettling when they trip over bits of their leader's body that have fallen off. Your princesses won't thank you for marrying them off to this stiff.

The strange thing is that they did change a face, but not the second sword... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Why would they change the second sword? It is not unheard of for Roman cavalry to carry two - a longer spatha as well as a short gladius for backup.

In Gladiator (I know, not an exact picture of warfare in Rome), Maximus pulls out the gladius after getting his spatha lodged in a tree.

Didn't you missed smth? What for a cavaleryman may need gladius? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif To point the direction for the army? It's totaly usless in cav combat, couse too short... Show me some bas-relief or sculpture of roman warrior with 2 swords... As far as i know this tradition (to carry 2 swords) started from the Middle Ages.

About "backup": why not 3 or 4, or more...

About "Gladiator": watch how roman soldiers use piluums, carry shields (scutuum), and armor of some "noble romans" is "full metal jacket"... so it's not the best exemple.
