View Full Version : units
In one of ma provinces I can build a unit named kensei or something which, on the battlefield, is represented by one man instead of 60, and in it`s description it said that it is almoast invulnerabile.
Also the Naghinata Cavalry doesn`t apear in the game tech tree.
Does anybody knows what these units are ? I asked that because I didn`t find any note of them in strategy guides that I read.
How do you get in the "throne room"?
How do you re-train units

Use the units, you'll discover pretty quickly what they do. Kensai are vulnerable to flanking and missile fire, but in hth they are very dangerous.
o go to the throne room click the clan symbol in the bottom left corner whilst in the strategy map.

I got a couple of Kensai in one of my armies, and I'm not quite sure whether they are worth the unit space or not. The money and time doesn't matter, as it is late game and I own almost everything.
What does everyone else think?
I definitely like their style. They also seem to run very fast for infantry.

GAH! Kensai units have TWO of the bastids when using 120 man units... kinda reminds me of that Marine joke... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Are these guys anygood in MP?
If you use them right, sure!
Zaietz,
You won't find either one of them in the Prima strategy guide. Neither will you find Battlefield Ninja, Ashigaru X-bows or any of the Mongol units.
The strategy guide was released for the original game and Prima decided not to update for the expansion pack.
If you read through the manual that came with the game, you will get a pretty good understanding of what the units are. You should also check out "The Way of the Daimyo" which will be in the directory where you installed your game. Naginata are on the Tech-tree, take another look at it.
Units are re-trained by having them in a castle and then opening up the train unit box and dragging them into the training queue.
Subutai, if it's that late in the game, do you really need to be worrying about unit space?
Fast, like Vanya said "if you use them right". None of the units are worthless in MP, each has their specific task that they fulfill, some more than others. Actually I kind of like them in an army. It can be relatively simple to use a Kensai to block a Yari unit from supporting another unit that has been flanked. You can also use one as a flanking force of one during a furball! I prefer them to Ninja if I go that route during army selection (depends on the map and who I'm up against).

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
They're certainly useful in SP, I wont bore you with details as I've said this in SO many posts, but they're most effective for bridge and castle assaults, probably because it's less likely that they'll be flanked.

Fight first, then scream 'Doh, why did I forget my Kensi!'
"Subutai, if it's that late in the game, do you really need to be worrying about unit space?"
Cause I only found out how to change units at the beginning of the battle last night. Also, I'd never received reinforcements before until the final battle to make me shogun last night. Me stoopid...
Still, my first campaign (normal difficulty), kind of a learning experience.
I used four kensai together last night as one grouped unit, and I don't think that was the best way forward. Two together is good. They seemed very effective, and only ran away near the end of the battle (which lasted for ages with both sides receiving a full second army of reinforcements) when they were totally exhausted. None of them died, which makes them good value.
They seemed very good at clearing out forests where the sneaky AI had hidden units of yami samurai.
When & why do I get reinforcements ?

If u havent done a full install on either STW WE or MI then u wont have the option of having a throne room just re-install on full install if this is the case and u will see the icon, and u get reinforcements when u have more than 16 units in the province and some of your onfield units run or you withdraw them the fresh troops will appear on the horizon.

winning and losing exist in the future, the future does not exist, concentrate on these two things and you will always fail no matter what the outcome.

Actually there is an option for the throne room if you want it or not.
