View Full Version : Locating info used for upgrades
I have searched for this info both on my own, and in the forums, with no luck. As I don't have a lot of free time, searching for hours doesn't really do me much good. So here is my question, and I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction:
Where is the info reguarding costs for upgrades? I can find the initial costs for units, but in custom battles and MP how are costs calculated? I know the info has to be somewhere in the game, I just can't find it.
Maybe upgrades are calculated with a formula based on the initial cost, maybe all the info is somewhere, I'm not sure.
If anyone knows, it would help me out a lot. For instance, how is the cost of a CMAA unit at v2 calculated? What about v2 w2? Or v4 a1? You get the idea.
Thanks in advance http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

ok, this tools not exactly what your looking for, but it might help
http://shogun.cafe24.com/files/Yas_units_master_v701.zip
it compares units, to give combat ratings for different upgrades, and it can show you the cost for the units too.
download it and check it out
thanks to trobalov who posted this over at the TWC
Thanks much Black Prince. This is actually exactly what I'm looking for. I was wondering where the info came from though, so I could look at it myself in an excel file. But until someone can help me find that out this will do nicely.
Well its pretty simple:
Valour =70% or 1.7
Weapon =33% or 1.33
Armor =38% or 1.38
Unitcost x multiplier
So v4a1 would be unitcost x 1.7 x 1.7 x 1.7 x 1.7 x 1.38 (or just 1.7^4 x 1.38)
For missile units that is a bit different as unitcost is reduced before its multiplied. That reduction depends on what missile weapon it uses:
Shortbow: 200
Longbow: 250
Mounted bow: 170
Crossbow: 135
Arbalester: 205
Arquebus: 120
Javelin: 80
And there is even a small hardcoded fudge factor there with missile units depending on unitsize iirc.
So for missileunits that would be:
(Unitcost-missile cost reduction) x multiplier

Actually, the missile hardcoded fudge factor can grow pretty substantial... see enclosed thread;

And also have a look at Almicar army builder. Might be helpfull too...

Hope it helps,

Louis the simurgh,
Thanks for the info guys http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif I seem to be missing a few files from the Army builder, I'll have to go and download those now.
See, I knew the info was somewhere, just didn't know that it was with CBR http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif oh and Louis too
