Actually, he's got like 200 opponents PLUS they still have to vote on whether they want to recall Gray Davis (the current gov) it's a real circus.

Now.. as I am a person who has been under a movie star governor (Jessie Ventura) I can safely say that it is very craptacular. But at least Jessie had a spark of life Terminator-mensch is at his most emotional when playing a robot... greeeaaaattttt.

being from california, let me tell you my opinion:

1. democrats, expecially davis, have royally screwed over the state repeatedly. i hope davis rots in hell.

2. having a movie star governor isnt all bad. after all, thats where reagon got his start.

3. schwarzenegger would be a cool president. it would be hard to believe europe giving us crap with arnold ready to crush their respective heads. plus, if this thing with north korea get out of hand, we could just send in arnold to solve the problem. he could go in with a machine gun, some grenades, and his knife and eliminate the atomic threat. he is a weapon of mass destruction all by himself.

Personally I think he would be good (though Im not american...) you get a guy that you REALLY REALLY know already... instead of some neat educated looking guy who turns out to be big scums or a monkey in a suit.... you won't dissapoint at least:P you already expect the worest LOL....

Looking on the other side... American president's recent trend is to vote for the funnier guy (that's why it was sooooo close between bush and gore http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif ) ... the guy that make sure ppl like Jay Leno and David Letterman will never run out of good jokes.... both Bush and Clinton seem to do that just fine (if a bit too fine http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif )

You know the guys character, he is a family man,
he is independently wealthy, so he wont be bothered ripping you off,
the press have been following him around for years, if he had any dark secrets you'd know them by now,

Yes, he is running which seems to have some of the republicans unhappy He is a moderate republican which pretty much means he is a republican of the time before the religious right took over that party. He's pretty centrist in the social vein, but no one really knows what he thinks fiscally. He apparently is for democrat programs like afterschool programs for kids and abortion rights and, to his credit, after he found out that his dad was a member of the Nazi party back during WW2 he has given millions of dollars to Jewish charities. Another good thing about Arnold is his constant nagging that Americans have to get into shape (with the programs that he runs to support his views) . Everyone knows, we got too many fat people over here.

Actually there is a senator trying to get an admendment to the constitution to change the must be born in the USA rule to something more along the lines of a citizenship time requirement (~20yrs) so maybe we will see him run for the whitehouse someday (him vs hillary? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif )

Oh and as a Californian I will probably be voting for him. The guy is a self made millionaire who had big bucks before he hit hollywood so he knows how to balance his checkbook. He also does a lot of charity work and wouldn't cave in to all the %$@& special interest groups in this god forsaken state. Really you just need leadership ability to be in a position of upper government (basically upper management). That way you can kickstart the massively inefficient government mechanism and inspire/fire people who arent doing their jobs. I just hope he stops us from becoming the next PRC (People's Republic of California) before I have to move out of here.

You do realize that most of the russian spies (or any spies for that matter) in America are American citizen that's often born there don't you? of course they are more likely to be of russian (or whatever country they are working for ) origin... but it doesn't really make it that much more difficult (or easy) for another country to put one of their spy in position of power.... with or without this law though....

One of the scientists working on the atomic bomb, an American scientist, fed Russia the plans so they could build their own. In other words, the Cold War might not have happened, or at least happened later, if it weren't for him.

Anyone who runs for public office has their entire history examined to the point of absurdity. Even the smallest blemish on that record would be explored to the very fullest in a sensational media frenzy. Anyways, the USA is a country of immigrants and would stagnate without the constant influx of many of the worlds best, brightest, and hardest working people coming here. If one of those people happens to be presidential material then I don't see what would be wrong with giving them a chance. In the end they still have to get elected.
