I want to know if anyone was able to gain control over the viking homelands. I believe I played on expert and I might have been the saxons. I controlled all of the south and felt the vikings were a threat for my further expansion to the north. I built enough ships to overwelm the better viking ships and whipped out their whole fleet around the british isle. I thought eventually the vikings might find a way back in the game, so I wanted to take them out for good. Lucky for me they invested in ports. I stuck so many spys in their southern province that I ran out of room to put them. (I like to always have lots of spies to keep my province loyalty high and have one or two provinces aimed at producing them. I believe they have no upkeep so is cheaper then a stack of spearmen.) with that many spies in one territory the loyality dropped and eventually rebelled. after reloading a couple times I was able to bribe the rebels to my cause. Thus I was able to gain control of the southern province. I repeated the same on the north. The vikings were out of the game for a few turns, till a a lost viking sucessor appeared with a huge army. I razed everything and let my armies die. This leads to many possiblities, maybe building viking ships to land additional reinforements.
