I have been trying to creat new bifs with no luck.
I open the Bif editior and click on create new bif, then
I import a frame from a bmp. the i click the save biff
button. and the result is that i get a bmp file that cannot
be accssed. I would be very happy if some one could respond.

I had the same problem with readbif 22a. I could still make new BIFs by using the DOS-prompt, but luckily there is a new version readbif 22b which can be downloaded here (http://www.3ddownloads.com/strategy-gaming/totalwar/Tools) (alphabetically listed).
This new version works perfect although I would really, really appreciate it if the maker could update the anime-rectangle option to MTW. At the moment that only works when deleting the action headings in the actionpage files http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif RSW, I don't know who you are on these boards, but I would appreciate it very much if you could adjust that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif

RSW is one of the mythical figures on these boards, simialr to Dan, he who has never been seen,
they do exist, somewhere, but we only get to pray to them twice each year, and most prayers go unanswered,

Truly though, LK and I are sooo used to the Shogun way of unit animation it is second nature to us, we consider it a nuisance to add the "header" bits just so we can see the units in mtw - as such we didn't even think about asking for the option to use stw or mtw animation files,
sorry,
maybe next time we will remember...

I'll remember placing a plate of food-offering the next time I ask a question to the Spirit of RSW.

Yeah I had problems saving also, but someone told me how to sort it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I'm not so good at explaining this, but:
When you import a bmp into the bif reader and save the bif, for some reason it saves over the bmp. You end up with no bif, and a bmp with bif coding (which won't load as a bmp because it is not bmp coding, and won't load as a bif because the it is recognised as a bmp from the extension)
If you find the bmp you imported and change the extension to bif, you can then open it up in the bifreader.
If you can't see the extensions on your files, go into Tools>Folder Options select the "View" tab and uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types"

Luckily you won't have to do that anymore. The new version does save correctly.

It will accept the basic headings.
run
walk
stand
die
fight
all you are missing are the shoot ones , seen as charge
is the same as run anyway. Unless you being fancy. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
