Well the preview on pc zone site is good even, with some nice info i will put the main features below.

Quote[/b] ]At the moment there are at least a dozen different playable factions in the game. As well as playing as the Romans you can play as the Carthaginians or the Greeks or the Persians, Germans, Gauls, Britons etc.
Germans and Gauls what the differance?

Quote[/b] ] I'll start with the Incendiary Pigs. This was a Roman tactic used with varying degrees of success. What they used to do is get a load of pigs and cover them in boiling tar and then set that tar alight. The noise and the havoc created by squealing pigs that were thrown in amongst elephants - this used to panic the elephants. So it was a tactic to negate the effectiveness of elephants on the battlefield.
He didnt mention much of it being an ingame feature http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Quote[/b] ]Finally, do you see yourselves ever focusing on more modern conflicts with the Total War series, say World War II or the Vietnam War?

Roxburgh: Ah. Yeah. Watch this space [laughs]. Nothing I can tell you about yet. But visiting different periods has always been an intention. So I dare say you'll find a few other reiterations in a few years' time [laughs].

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dont even think of going past the napolionic years.

Quote[/b] ]Are we going to need a nuclear-powered PC to run it?

Roxburgh: People look at the game and expect to have to own a 3Ghz machine to run it, but you don't. At the moment the minimum spec is about a P3 600, and you'll be able to run battles with thousands of troops on that kind of spec.

for every nonbeleiver lurking the the shadows, here it is said once again

Quote[/b] ]Anyone who plays PC games or who owns a PC, they can pick it up and the minute they start playing: a) they have fun; and b) they find it very easy to learn how to play.

So how are you easing PC gamers not familiar the Total War series into Rome?

Roxburgh: We'll have all sorts of tutorials where players will have their hand held to start with and then be left alone. We don't want people to go in there and be overawed by the size of the game; because it is a huge game and there are hundreds of hours of gameplay there. But we fully intend to help the player through and make it an easy and intuitive game to learn.

That sounds horribly like dumbing down...

Quote[/b] ]Rome: Total War has Incendiary Pigs, which sounds like a bizarre kind of weapon. Are there any other weapons of note, in a similar sort of vein? And also tell us about the Incendiary Pigs of course...?

This was said before, so my best guess is that the pigs are in This must be THE most bizarre unit I have ever seen in a game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

Another new feature in Rome is the cities that the players themselves build on the campaign map actually appear on the battlefield and you can zoom down onto them, walk through the streets and look at the city that you've constructed.

If there's a riot in the city, for example, then you'll see people running amok in the streets and you'll have to go in and put down the riot.

But in the screenshots I didn't saw any civilian. I really hope there are going to be lots, in order to add some more realism.

Cheers Macedon, long time no see. BTW, hope that short resumee about "Romania" was of some help.

I was ambushed, but I was prepared as well. Wielding a piece of pipe take from my neighbours wall, I ran down to the store. An old lady tried to push me out of the way and WAM. She felt the force.

Yeah, it made the same noise as when you squash a hard beetle. Brittle and Crunchy.
The Bullwhip is better. Once some man tried to get on the bus before me, I just got bullwhip and lashed is leg. He fell off the platform instantly and I took his spot.

Asterix is brilliant, but it ain't history chaps.

Our Gaullish friends lost their short but gallant fight against the imperial power of Rome (as you know) and ended up speaking Latin.....so much for 'le resistance'....

Yeah man, some old guy thought he as gonna go in the game store bfre me and not open the door for me. Not today, old man. Luckily, I was carrying my weighted throwing hammers. Lucky for him, the prosthetic knee-cap store was just across the street. He did have to drag himself with his arms through traffic though.

I've heard of Asterix, just not heard him. I'm not big on comics or cartoons, and thats if its even available in the US.
