Well been looking at the various forums but as of yet ive not come acroos this topic? so here goes ( apoligies if im just suggesting/asking something thats been done or discussed already http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )
Just wondering if anyone has modded the game with regard to sieges in certain regions and and depending on the circumstances of the besieging army...
an example of this would be with a very small besieging army, the duration of the siege ( if no revolt or sally from the defender?) should have the potential of being greatly extended, as the attacker would lack the ability of preventing supplies etc from reaching the city???
Also probably of greater importance is the case of some cities, constantinople and antioch being two classic examples, which were impossible to starve out during a siege as long as the naval route remained unblocked. all said and done this was the primary reason why both of these cities did not fall except under an overwhelming ASSAULT on the cities, were as in MTW the would tend to fall under siege?
dont know if anyone out their with skill in modding will be interested in looking at how to tinker with this (as moddings a foreign language to me....which looking at my punctuation in this post so too is english??? )
But i would think that any province under siege with a port and merchant house, therbye to be presumed to be able to bring in goods from abroad... should be pretty much impregnable as far as starving out during a siege is concerned. it may also have the added bonus effect of making castle assaults a more likely occurance, (not sure if this would mean another mod for the ai to make it realise the castle cannot fall without assault?
anyone with any information or advice is greatly welcomed to throw in the two pennies worth ion this thread...
cheers

Okay here's a posssible fix to essentially force an assault.

Naval blockade will have no effect though...

Could make a new building for the Byzantines available only in Constantinople that has all the same stats and abiltiies of a regular fortress except it has a garrison capacity of like a million or something. So the enemy can never starve them out.

this may be do-able,

Thanks for the quick response guys, just an idea from someone without the slikks to know wheter its possible or i'm living in an idealistic dream world, were all mods are possible http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif but as the ai can recognise a ship being present in the naval home of a trading post with port ( to allow it to obtain the income from the province ) via trade....
is their any way that the same line recognising this can be linked so that as example if they are unblockaded in the province and under siege the capacity of the castle is vastly increased.... with the obvious result that they aint gonna fall during siege????
hope it is but, even if its not the increasing garrison capacities in certain provinces (ie constantinople as said by ham ) is a nice idea as a way of making certain provinces that little bit harder to take

As another though i have been having ... is there anyway to actually mod to include certain things into the game...
an idea of this would be the bearer of the true cross (maybe a an icon similiar to titles, something which i always thought should haver been included into the game as a unique thing ...as this 'icon' probably had a lot to do with the early survivability of the crusades.... its mere prescence turning at least 2 battles alone through its 'inspiring' morale and valour bonus to the troops present ???
anyone agreee??????

Hello Reynald. You realize you are stirring up the loonies down in the Dungeon, don't you? Good job http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif If we keep'em busy, they'll stay down there. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

BTW barocca, should we move this to Edit1, Edit2 or Edit3? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

Thanks Gregoshi http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif and hello back. I'm sorta new at the online posting malarchy so let us know if im waffling on a bit, but im jam packed with tweaks and little mods so hopefully the occasionally descent idea will pop up.
Unfortunately the biggest problem ive got is being dark ages tech wise http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif so cant implement the stuff id like to try, so any help from those with the know-how and willingness to try their hands is always welcome.
Just the oportunity to help bounce ideas off each other is useful enough.
