That would be a weird vice, and I think you claim the thrown when the king of the country dies with no heirs and you have married one of his daughters.

I don't believe you claim anything. The game will give you certain provinces under the right circumstances.

That's right you can't claim anything. Instead you have to sit back and wait for the faction to die out and if you are lucky you will receive several provinces. Getting provinces like this is quite rare so don't hold your breath while you wait You do seem slightly more likely to get something if you have been allied with the faction for a long time and have supported them over other allies (choose them when offered a choice between two warring allies).

Has it ever happened? In shogun I never had allies leave territories to me, they seemed to prefer oda or uesugi. Even that doesnt seem to happen in MTW - they always go rebel and then the faction remerges after 20 years.

It happened to me once in Shogun but it was a crappy province (Hida I think) which got captured immediately since it was surrounded on all sides and only had 1 unit of ashigaru to guard it I have seen several reports of it happening in medieval but I have never gained a province myself, although I have seen the AI get a province or two very rarely.

This thread (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=10042) has a campaign write up which includes a large set of inherited provinces, the lucky player got nearly all of Uesugi's lands

Actually, in Shogun, I got something like five provinces from one clan when it died.....it was sweet. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif I think it had something to do with--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

happened to me when i playing VI, i was vikings and i was allied with picts, married their princesses(sp?) for a long ass time, anyways next turn i found out the pict king didnt have any heirs so i had all his lands http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif, course by this time i had 3 armies of joms n vikings http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
