OK.. was this PLANNED? Cuz its not documented anywhere in the patch documentation that I have seen. I started a Mongol campaign on normal - a campaign I have not played since installing the patch. I chose to be the horde - again - not something I normally do. I get my landing forces, and start my first turn. I sort my 2 stacks into unit types (I prefer to work with armies that have all the same units in it for organizational purposes).
WHY DOES MY CAV GROUP ONLY HAVE 48 MEN IN IT?My unit setting is 60, yet I cannot add any men to my cav groups - they are maxed at 48.
WHY???
I want my 60 men back!!!

That is a design decision as they were way too powerful before online play.

it's ok, bsm. we only cut out the poorer horsemen ;)
yes, something had to be done. magyar's, er, i mean the mongols were running amok (amock? amuk?). mongol cav are still plenty strong, just not outrageously so now. the haircut they received actually improves them in one or two ways, but does cut down on their overall strength. it was one of those 'necessary' evils we had to perform.

Not a major problem, although I would have really liked seeing it better documented.
Oh well - I do appreciate the hard work and effort put in to the patch, so its all good. Thanks for the explanation mates!

Don't forget BSM, in SP you can edit yourself and get back your 60 units of mongol cav.

And if you remove troopstats and projectiles files you'll have 60 Troops per unit back also. Then the game will use default stats for SP that are different from the original as well, and are also better balanced.
Damn! And I just thought the missing men were busy plundering the people and just couldn't make the battle in time...
I moved the value back to 60 for MHC. They weren't called the Horde for nothing!

Moving the value back to 60 without reducing morale, melee and/or defense really makes them too strong.

This is from the 1.02 patch download page.

1. All units have been reviewed for balancing. Major changes have been made to gun units and cavalry, but literally every unit has been looked at very closely. There are now separate default stats for online and offline play. In online play, Mongol HCAV and LCAV now have 48 troops instead of 60. This is a major improvement in the balancing for online Mongol battles. In offline play, all units still have 60 troops, but their other statistics have been vastly improved as well.

For offline play, to use the default stats with 60 troops in Mongol Cav units, you must move the troopstats and projectiles textfiles to a different folder. When they are in the root they override the in-built stats for ofline play.

I prefer the old 60 cav.
In single player and hard setting you're a dead mongol.
They are too strong? They conquered half a world, they don't?
So please give to us the 60 horde mongol again.
Bye.

Errr... with the 48 setting and playing expert I run through all of Japan in a jiffy... Well, not a jiffy, I run into some tough battles on well defendable maps, but still the japs don't stand a chance.
And as I said before, if you want the 60 troops per unit Mongol cav simply take the troopstats.txt and projectiles.txt files out of the game root folder and put them somewhere else. The game then reverts to another set of in-built stats for Single Player.

Do you happen to have the stats of the default setting?
