Does anyone know why the developers decided to make Cathedrals, etc. unique buildings in the MTW 1.1 patch?

I was thinking about modding the game to make them non-unique but I figured that the developers might have had a good reason to make them unique. I'm just talking about the Cathedral, College of Surgeons, Military Academy, and University and their non-Catholic counterparts (Grand Mosque, etc.). I don't mean the unique title-producing buildings like Admirality.

Not sure what you mean .

Do you mean why are they religion specific?

If so well it's for logical reasons .
Each to their own and all that . http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

No, I mean why each faction can only build one. For example the English can only build one Cathedral. I was thinking of modding the game to allow Catholic factions to build more than one Cathedral and Muslim factions to build more than one Grand Mosque, etc.

I did the modding you are talking about before and I must say that I like the result. And the reason behind making cathedrals unique buildings is to prevent players from creating powerful armies in just few turns. But I rather prefer different approach that is:as long as there are florins in my coffers - I should be able to spend them on anything I want (so why not another cathedrals?).
