Ever since I got my copy of shogun I loved this series, its what i always thought was missing from most strat games. As the diplomacy gets better this game should be even better. But i still have one problem, I have never thought that MTW was a hard game to win, with any faction really, and I always played on the hardest difficulty.

Beyond what many and myself have said for quite sometime, poor tactical and strategic AI, I dont think that the game really portrays the difficulty of running a kingdom or empire. Now, I have read that the romans will be split into (3) factions and the senate, and that is a start, but this only applies to Rome.

What I would like to see is something along the following lines, have internal politics be more of an issue for ALL factions, let me explain. Internal politics in history was often more dangerous than the external politics. Where are the other noble and royal houses? sure there are hiers, but they can generally be easily controlled. Why dont we see more wars over succession? another noble house attempting to take over the empire? Sure "it happens" in MTW, but in a very basic sense, and can easily be stopped by a marriage or a handy title. and what about religious and cultural battles, in MTW it is somewhat refelcted, but just think, the events which occur in MTW are fairly easily taken care of by merely placing a single agent in the province, yet in history they were much bigger affairs.

Events should have some more punch in RTW I hope and playing internal politics should be harder and more integral to maintaining your empire than was reflected in earlier versions of TW.

And should there be an "imperial" expansion to RTW, this would be even more important, just last night i was reading a book on the history of rome, called History of Rome by Michael Grant, in it he describes a turbulent period of time in the empire, he said in the year 238 there were no less than (7) emperors or would be ones that minted their own coins. Between 218 and 268 about 50 usurpers assumed the imperial title and ot of the 27 regular emperors of the 3rd century 17 were killed at the hands of his own men

You had the eastern and rhine legions envying the dacian/danube legions. In the 260s the empire was divided into 3 parts with one rebel queen holding essentailly the eastern empire, and Postumus, another rebel holding gaul, britain and spain - this state of affairs lasted nearly 15 years if recall correctly.

Now while every civil war wasnt huge, many were, and while it wasnt alwaysso unstable tehre were times when it was. And much was beyond the control of the leadership. I guess I am saying, it would prove more interesting, if there was always internal struggles within a faction, that were not always easy to deal with, which would thus make it harder for the player to take over the whole map so easily. Cultural, religios and military issues should be things that need to be dealt with a little more thoroughly I think - thus adding some depth, difficulty and fun to the game.

In regards to the agents thing, its not just one agent. You should think of him as te head a a large network. He comes into the province, recruits his own spies and informants, as well as doing some "research" himself, ad then he reports it to you. Its like a pyramid scheme.
