Hey eveyone I new to this forum. I have played medieval total war for about 2 months. I was just wondering how long everyone in this forum had been playing? Also what factions have you beat the game with? I have beaten the game with the English on normal and the Danes on hard.

I go back to day one of MTW (August 21/22, 2002?), but have only had the time to play it sporatically throughout the past year. I've only played HRE and Spain and neither one to completion (yet). I also have one Viking campaign underway as the Vikings.
However, I also go back to day one of STW - late June 2000(?).

I've been playing since January of this year.

I bought it the day of its UK release. Played the Italians for 120 years, but stopped when the patch came out as
a) My 1.0 saves didn't work with the patch
b) I didn'y have the time to fight 3 or 4 huge battles every turn - it took me an entire sunday to fight a single turn once.
I picked up VI the day of its release (mainly for save between battles featue).
The only campaign I have finished is my home town Mercians in VI and I only ever play on expert.

Since September/October last year. My old computer couldn't handle the battle map, and the campaign map was mostly white squares so even though I played it in September after I had bought it I couldn't play for real before October when my parents finally agreed to buy me a new computer as an early Christams and birthday present.
But I have also played STW since christmas of 2000.
I have completed the game as the Danes, total and GA(I think) and 60%, total conquest as the byzantines, Alomohads, Italians and Egyptians.
In VI I have had a 60% victory as the vikings, but I am not done playing that campaign yet.
I have several games running, English, french Germans, spanish, hungarians, irish, scots and polish.

I am still waiting for my copy. Oh well, I should have expected a wait when P&P was free. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
It will be exactly one year on September 9. I've been playing on expert since may 2003 when I got Viking invasion and still couldnt achieve world domination on expert; but it is much fun. We also play on LAN with friends for quite sometime; I will join a tournament when I feel Im ready. I love ENglish, Italian and Turkish campaigns (early). Egyptian units are good too, but the heirs are very lousy.

MTW...Day of Release
STW...Day of Release
STW Demo Day of Release (Months before Shogun was actually released)

Shoguns demo = about a month before the UK release.
Shogun = Since the day of the UK launch
Medievals demo = again about a month before the release
Medieval = Since the day of the UK release
Viking Invasion = Since two days before the UK release, a shop near me was selling early. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Of course I've not been playing constantly all this time, if you add them all together I've probably clocked up 200-300 hours the the years I've been playing.

One year allready playing Medieval. In autumn 2002 I buyed a new computer to be able to play the game normally:)) 400 or something hours of exciting (sometimes not so exciting)play. I have finished few campaigns at expert. But I think Medieval is much more easyer than Shogun, which I play from Y2000 maybe.

I have played MTW for nearly as long as it has been out...
Sometime last June-July...
Anyway, i was addicted to STW before that. It was a great introductory game to MTW...
I have played with the French, the Egyptians, the Almohads, the Spanish, the English, the Danes, the Italians, the Byzs, the Turks.
A rather eclectic mix. No, i dont finish games... I just play them to near finish but i get bored with the latter part of the game...
I prefer to build a struggling empire than sustain one.
I have tried playing the factions all over again, playing GA rather than Domination nowadays.
I've been playing Shogun since 2000 and bought MTW in the week that it came out. I've finished campaigns as The English, French, Spanish, Turkish, Danes, Polish, Egyptian and Almohad, all on Expert. I've installed V.I. but I'm not very fond of the campaign so far...
Hi everyone.
I bought MTW two months ago along with my new computer (actually, I bought the MTW first and drooled over the manual for a week), VI a month later. I haven´t really been able to play it as much as I would have wanted, as the between the work and summer activities you really don´t want to spend your time staring at the screen. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Nevertheless, I moved to hard level sometime ago and really enjoy playing campaigns with the smaller countries. Spain, Sicily, Denmark ja Aragon probably are my favourites so far - though I´m a bit stuck with Aragon now as I opted meeting El Cid on the battlefield instead of negotiation table, and now have to try and start my reconquista over the river between Valencia and Cordoba with my old king... Almohad Urban Militia, urgh.
The actual campaign is a bit too big for my taste, there really is too much micromanaging with armies, emissaries and stuff in the end. But, I can always just play as long as its fun and then start over. Viking campaign luckily changes this, as it is much, much, MUCH more manageable.
And no, I am not a very good player yet. But I´m trying. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

About three weeks and I love it. I've beaten it once with German_hre.

Me too, I have been an avid Total War fan and bought both games from roughly day one of their releases.
I discovered The Org early this year and joined and the discussions here and the PBM Campaigns have kept my enthusiasm going... I STILL Can't get enough http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
I've been playing MTW since the day of issue. Later I played VI for a few days, but I had to remove it, because I hated it when my king dies in the age of 56 with no adult heir. So I' still playing MTW.
Last week, i bought Shogun TW for €uro 2.00 .It was a good investment, i've spent the whole weekend with it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hi, I've played since the danish release took a break about 2 months before VI was released and am now in it again http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Btw, how can you play as mongols in SP ? I try every era none has them as faction?
Do I need to use cheats (like with the ronin in stw) in that case what are they?

Sjak http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I have played MTW since October last year, and Shogun before that but dont remember when.
I have played as every faction in the early except Egypt, but I have never managed to complete a campaign yet
I actually waited for Shogun after seeing some incredible screenies on the wall in the local game shop and got it on the release date in Norway. I played it a couple of moths and forgot all about it.
It was pure luck that I discovered Medieval in November of 2002 by browsing a little on the net and also found this forum.
I bought the game in December and have played it sporadically since then... I realized just last week that I had never tried any other factions than the catholic ones and have just started a Byzantine campaign.

For about a year. Beat the game with every faction (save some Viking Era ones), but play mostly GA games.
I've been playing pretty much since it has come out. I gobbled up Viking Invasion as soon as that came out. I still make a lot of the same, stupid mistakes I made the first time I played. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
If nothing else, I have a much better understanding of the Middle Ages than I did before.

played shogun a few months after it's release.
a few years later I saw a previeuw of medieval in a magazine, at first I thought it was crap http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
But a month later I was checking the the .com every hour for new information and screenies http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I bought it when it was released and still playing todag on expert with the italians now. Having a hard time keeping the byzantines out of venice.
I have played MTW since the first week it came out. I haven't played much this summer and I am waiting for Rome. I have played every faction in every age. I have also won as all the Viking factions. I mostly play on 'hard' as I don't like the AI valor bonus' on 'expert'. I have played Shogun some and been a member of the Org since MTW came out. It is still the best game ever created but I am getting desperate for Rome.

Hello http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
I have been playing MTW since about July of this year.
I prefer to play online rather than do the campaigns, so I may have met one or two of you in battle

Bought MTW a week ago today. Been playing Shogun for about a year after finding WE for $10.00 in a budget bin. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Haven't beaten it yet but my jolly ol england currently has most of europe, north africa and denmark/sweden/finland. Just have the blasted Italians to beat to own Europe.
Oh and the Pope, as a Catholic faction, do you leave him for last?
I bought MTW one month ago (actually it was for my nephew, but he'll have to be content with Rise of Nations http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ), and I have played it quite a lot (sp only for the moment).
Currently I am playing with the Danes, which isn't turning out as fun as I expected, so maybe I should ditch my campaign and install VI instead http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Just goes to highlight that TW hasn't yet moved into the upper echelon of games as yet; and/or that EA is dumping
One heck of a bargain though
