View Full Version : A few stupid questions

I love this game, but there's just a few things I gotta know, and there are no good FAQs around that I know of.
1. Is there anyway to increase the liklihood that my Daimyo's wife will produce an heir? I have none left, and my Daimyo is getting pretty old. (I guess I shouldn't have been so passive in my conquest http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif)
2. What is retraining, and what is its purpose? Also, how do you do it?
3. How do you flank an opposing army?
4. I've been a console gamer for years, but I'm just now getting into PC gaming, so cut me some slack on this next question. If I reinstall my game as a full install, will it erase my full campaign save file?
Thanks to those who actually read all of this. Much love to all online Daimyos!!!!

Here are the answers...
1.) Not really. It is a semi-random process based on certain years. Nothin' to it.
2.) Retraining is replacing a units casualties. To do, move a unit to a dojo which trains that unit, and then add it to the training queue (drag icon onto slot). Next turn: BINGO!
3.) Flanking is getting onto the side or behind. In Shogun this is on an idividual and unit basis. Basically move a unit next to an enemies, then attack.
4.) Re-install should NOT delete your saved game files. It will simply overwrite the existing program files.
Hope that helps!

a pro/veteran answers:
1. Heirs are programmed in to follow with historical hiers/generals; this makes it very predicable to know when you will get an heir. I'm sure someone here will be helpful and provide the proper link to the respective site.
2. You need the Warlord Edition to retrain. It re-equips and replenishes units, if applicable. Search for one of the several threads abour retraining in this forum.
3. Ryuzoji answered.
4. To be safe, back up your saved games on a disk then put back in the folder! That way you can uninstall/reinstall all you like with no worries.

Heirs: Quote Heirs are born, generals appear according to their historical appearance, think this is an accurate listing("The Diamyo" generated this I think, can't remember which specific site got this from, though). Sure I stand to be corrected if its inaccurate.
