View Full Version : Double Bonus Provinces

This thread is meant to inform people that are unfamiliar with certain hidden aspects of the game. Note that some people would have already known about the information below. However this thread is directed at people who do not dig through 10 folders of files to find out a certain tidbit of info. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

It was brought to my attention that certain provinces give double bonuses to certain unit types. Since the game can only show one unit bonus on the province parchment screen, the other bonus remains hidden even though it still works in-game. Here is the list of provinces that give double bonuses (this has been done in VI version of the game). Note that the province's first bonus appears on the in-game screen and hence is not included here.

Province Hidden valor bonus to
Bulgaria Janissary Heavy Infantry (oh yeah baby http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif)
Norway Huscarles
Rum Ottoman Sipahi
Tripoli Sipahi of the Porte
Syria Assassins
Castile Grand Inquisitor

In the unlikely event that i have missed some hidden bonuses please let me know about them.

Cheers,
Rev

Ahhh most excellent been wondering about that for a while.

But I am also very depressed at this news as that means provence is the only place where you can train plus 1 valour peasants unlike Shogun wich had 3 different provinces where you could pump out plus 1 hounor peasants http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

Hi Rev, I posted your topic on our german MTW-fan-board, because it is really an important information and it is new for most of the players.

I hope you are agreed with this. Here you can see the post: Doppelter Einheitenbonus in manchen Provinzen (http://www.mdg-foren.de/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=42;t=4814)

Cheers,
Rev

Hmm Sipahi of the Porte and Ottoman Sipahi muahhahahah http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif Ahh and JHI bonus http://www.totalwars.net/forum/images/smiles/893eyepopping-thumb.gif The game will take on a whole newe flavor as Turks now. http://www.totalwars.net/forum/images/smiles/893bud-thumb.gif

This is listed in Froggy and Bushface's files right ?
Thanks for sharing this. Well I for one never had a clue about this http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hahahaha..where do you get those emoticons cuz they dont appear in my list. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I agree about the totally new flavour for the Turks - thats why I was abit upset about not knowing this info b4 because i am already half way into my current Turk campaign. And that is why i made this post for people like me who didnt know this info. And I can see this stuff already spreading - which was my intention. I just wish I knew about this b4 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

One thing i'd like to say though is that I am NOT taking any credit for this info since i wasnt the one who found it. Since I've read about it from frogbeastegg and Bushface's MTW info pack (and later verified it using Gnome editor) in my eyes all credit should go to them. In fact if you want to download their guide go here:

MTW info pack (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=10504;st=0)

I just decided to post this double bonus thing in one thread so it would be easy to access and hence inform the public.

PS Seljuk my current Turk campaign has taken a turn for the worst - I shall post about it in that Turk help thread I started.

Revenant69 - Thanks for being honest http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif I should probably have advertised this in my announcement but I didn't, however you've made a nice job of it here so I won't bother. It was Bushface who first pointed it out to me, so I have him to thank for the extra research http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

You can get some varied emoticons from crack's smilies (http://www.mysmilies.com/), I think it was Monk who gave me the address a while ago. If you're using another one Seljuk please post it, more smilies is always a good thing

No problem frogbeastegg, I know how it feels not to get credit for a job done.

By the way i love that emoticons site it is hilarious as hell. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Massively important news

Version II of our pack is hot off the press It contains a few error fixes, some new information, properly named files (i.e. it's now MTW campaign map instead of Scan 000034) and a more logical zip format (it's just in one zip file instead of several).

This new version makes the old one obsolete.

The pack has been submitted to the org and I've sent a copy to Seljuk Sinan for hosting too so expect to see links appearing here soon. Seljuk Sinan will post a link to his version as soon as he has hosted it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I thought I said I would post in both my original topic and the sticky one called double bonus provinces, at least I said that to someone (I also notified Bushface and TosaInu, but the content of the messages needed to be slightly different so I didn't cut and paste them). If I neglected to tell you that I am very sorry for giving you a run around http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif It is quite funny anyway http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
