What are Great Offices in MTW and what are their effect on game play?

A great office is an office with a water cooler and a nice big desk

OK seriously a great office (also called Office of State) is any of the titles you get from these buildings: the Royal Palace, Constables Palace, Marshall's Palace, Chancellery, Admiralty and Cathedral. The title is based on a historical office specific to the faction that constructed the building (so the English get the Archbishop of Canterbury from the Cathedral while the Danes get Archbishop of Lund) and it gives a generous bonus to the man you grant the title. The bonus varies from title to title but you always get a loyalty boost from the man you give it to. Common bonuses include command stars and acumen.

The great offices aren't that important (i.e. you don't have to have them to win) but they are very handy as they allow you to boost your favourite generals skills.
