Hi GPMB,

I've downloaded your stuff and I'm checking it now. Are you using LMM4v1?

Canyou post in this thread your "Parameters.txt" file.

Expect a full reply in a day or so.

Ok, I've had a look.

The first problem is that your maps are NOT the true BMP's with your LMM features drawn onto them.I can only see GIf/JPEG imaged that are unusable as the pixel co-ords and colours, that LMM is interested in, have been lost in such images.

When you run LMM there is only one output file that is important - "Ref_Features.bmp".

This file is ABSOLUTELY CRITICALin ascertaining what you have drawn onto your map.

LMM has absolutely no interest in your actual map. Your map is only a backdrop/template that YOU use to draw the features onto it that LMM recognises.

Your actual map image is actually worthless to LMM. LMM is only interested in certain colours on that map that LMM recognises. That's why LMM provides a "Ref_Features.bmp"; because this file contains all the pixels that LMM will process.

I cannot stress enough how totally unimportant your actual map is, and how absolutely critical the generated "Ref_Features.bmp" is.

E-mail me your "Ref_Features.bmp" (ZIP it first) and I'll take it from there (alan.tipping@wxs.nl).

Welly

Hi GPMB,

Just a few things I can ascertain from your GIF image -

1) your map may be a bit too small. The GIF image is 500x500 and as this is lowres your hires image will therefore be 1000x1000. Considering, the hires MTW map area is 4096x3072 your map appears to be quite small, considering the number of regions you've specified. For example, you may have problems with the smaller provinces (look at the tip of Scotland - I think such provinces will be too small)

Note: having said that I don't if you've intentionally decreased your map size just for displaying it as a GIF in this thread - I can't tell

2) you don't have castle origin pixels in all land provinces. If you look at the area that would equate to Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire there is no "pink pixel" to indicate this is a land province. You'll have to add some for these regions.

3) in your land provinces that are adjacent to sea regions you have specified 2 "Turquiose pixels" - one for the origin and one for the port. However the port poixel MUST be adjacent top the pink line that represents that land regions border with the sea region. Otherwise LMM thinks it's a mistake becaus you've effectively specified 2 origins. You'll have to change all of these.

4) another problem you might have is that some of your origins (the "turquoise pixles" in your land regions) appear to be a bit too close to your borders. The best rule is NOT to place castle or origin pixels too close to the borders. (Note: the other "Turquoise pixel, your port, MUST be placed next to the sea border literally)

5) you've put a pink border all around your map. 1st you don't need to do this - LMM will correctly generate the borders at the edges of your map (for the Lukmap). 2nd this border is'nt at the edges. Therefore you've effectively created another region (a few pixels thick) all asround your map and LMM does'nt know what that is.

Basically ALL AREAS OF YOUR MAP must represent something - a land region or a sea region.

One idea is to download the "Holyland" example referenced in LMM4v1 . This contains a "Ref_Features.txt" that should give you a good idea of how to do some things.

Welly
