View Full Version : changing faction after being accepted into 1v1
just like some thoughts from the community on late changers ie when you host a 1v1, player shows he is the swiss faction
you accept him into game ,game starts he is MONGOLS or almohads.now i know you should pick an army for all eventualities but i sometiomes fell a little ****off.....ER ANGRY
Ok so you dont know complete army set up but you should know who your gonna face so dont change late thats my message
your thoughts?
Faction change after the host pushed ready , is considered very lame ... , as host you might want to ask if the chosen one is the final faction or not ....

Somehow cheesy.
You have a good reason to be unhappy about it.
Louis,
Another thing for the Advanced Settings (en/disable late change).
I guess the host should make such extra rules clear before starting, just like no art, no swipe, and max rules. Not the best solution, but games will be more enjoyable for all if such agreements are made (and respected) on forehand.
That is a pretty cheap thing to do. But do ask like others have said, as I myself am pretty slow to choose my faction sometimes, I really don't know who i want to be, what I'm in the mood for. But thats no excuse for it to happen often. At least they're changing to the Mongols, not like going from the Swiss to the Spanish in late and going all cav.
If I hosted and someone did that, I'd just end the game right then, and they'd be banned and ignored forever. Wastes some of your time, but it's a quick solution.
Changing factions after the host hits ready is lame, IF you do it with intention of deceiving the host. Some folks may just be slow but honest, which may be considered a form of lameness by some.
After the game is over and you win, you can say something like "GAH, even the late faction change didn't help you", or if you lose, you can say "GAH that faction change really gave you the advantage"
Then offer to play again, but state clearly that in order to be fair you shouldn't change after the host hits ready. This avoids lots of stipulations at the start of each game.

I always hated it, havent played for ages, bu I remember the lame action still...
If I chnge faction after 'ready',I'm always sure to let others in the game know.If I host, I always ask 'so you're using X ?'
I'm pretty sure I have done that quite a few times.
I have no intentions of decieving anybody, but sometimes I just talk to people and finally deside that another faction will fit my mood of the game. By then the host might have hit 'ready'.
I remember a game where I changed my faction no less than 5 times, but in that case I'm sure it was before 'ready'.
We will start seeing this on the ladder games http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Now they read about it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
