Hashishins automaticly hides in the open as long as they are not moving. You can identify them as being hidden by the tree in the top corner of the unit icon.

And welcome to the Org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

If your unit has the tree icon it's supposed to be hidden. However, I had one castle siege where I had about 5 units, all hidden, sitting in a small forest. Three catapults, way off to the left and not behind the hidden units were breaking down walls. No other units were behind the hidden ones. Yet, the AI sent some pavise arbs to the breached wall and began shooting at my hidden troops and I did take a handfull of losses, all while those units had the tree icon. This may be an 'advantage' the AI gets on hard/expert settings.

Hi Amon

Welcome aboard http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I personally love Hashishin (and Beserkers &#33http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif, and yeah I sure as hell use em. They should be about valor 4-5 before you can commit them to volunteer hazardous duty. At this stage when you do it's immensely rewarding to see them work. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

SoP well yeah they are OK I guess. Not historically accurate, too weak IMO in this game. I use them (as I use Ghulam bodyguards) for elites.

I have on many times been unable to Ambush the AI... It always seem to know where your hidden troops are and go straight for them.

its really annoying because in Shotgun you could conduct ambushes, and even though you get taught about it in the Medieval Tutorials it doesn't seem to be easy to pull off... This is one of the reasons why I don't like Hashishin in an army and prefer to use Naptha Throwers instead.

I really hope this AI can see all feature is not present in RTW.

Hashishins work very well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif If you plan to ambush take them off fire/engage at will. I use them as a type of flanker unit. When my line is engaged they can spring on a flank or rear; sometimes I sic them on the AI's reserve. Watch the relative valour of the unit you engage them with, a v9 unit against noob hashers will probably mop the floor with them. On the other hand, they can destroy royal knights quite well http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I use them like that,
Much like i did on the first of Tokugawa's missions (i think http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif ) in STW

Probably Ghulam cavalry cos they are almost the same as Ghulam bodyguards but with bigger numbers much like fuedal and royal knights.

Although i don't really play as islamic factions much so don't take much notice of this post. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

I have to say that I love SoP. As for K. Cav, they're pretty good when you first get them but not as effective as late Ghulam BG or SoP. I don't use Hash. much (please no jokes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ), I prefer Nizaris.

I mod SoP to 40 men and Hash to 40 as well. At 20/12 they just aren't that usefull IMHO.

I hope you also reduce their stats, because that would make them super units.
