View Full Version : LMM download location?

I have been busy editing the Greece map of Komninos, and now I want to edit the boundaries and such with LMM. But 3D downloads is down again. So could anyone please give me another download location if there is one, or mail the files to me (REMOVETHISrobgraat@hotmail.com)?
Thanks, Duke John
Edit
They're not in the Member Files Tools section. Which version(s) is/are the most used/useful? I'll update the toolsection there. That server doesn't have popups/downloadmanagers.
LMM files are here: LMM (http://www.mizus.com/LMM)
Please tell me if you need anything else.

Konnichiwa,
Sorry for being more than rusty, but is this all LMM stuff that has been made? It was in the beta uploads and was moved to the beta 'dump it here' folder at 3D. Not the best place to distribute useful tools. Which version(s) are of 'no' importance anymore?
I'ld also like to know which other tools should be available. A bit of assistance (a list with filenames?) would be of big help.
Creating an extra direct download 'server' with all the best working versions should make it easier for modders to grab the best tool to get the job done, shouldn't it?
The capacity of the mirror has been increased, so this means more files can be hosted there. I'ld like to create this toolsection first.
Feedback about the mirror is welcome too.
I need suggestions please?

I don't know if you're talking to me, but I have little idea of what each of the files contain. I downloaded LMM4 since that is the latest versions. Perhaps the example files could be kept, but Wellington knows more...

Hi Tosa,
Sorry - I missed your earlier post.
Ok, here's the situation. There are currently 2 versions of LMM downloadable from the Org that people currently use -
1) LMM3v3 - which is prefered for W98 users
2) LMM4v1 which is ok for XP and 2000 (as far as I know)
Other versions (Called LukMapMaker, or prior to 3v3, can be removed.
All opf these versions are actually called 'BETA', which is a bit of a misnomer as the above 2 versions have been in use, successfully, for quite a while now. The idea of calling all versions BETA was just because I knew LMM would have future versions because that was other stuff that it could do.
The next version LMM5v1, comes in 2 parts (2 seperate utilties). When it's ready the intention is for me to E-mail it to Barrocca who will host it on the Org. At this time it will probably no longer be called BETA, but there will be at least 1 more version (LMM5v2) which will cater for VI, and probably resolve some bugs that will undoubtedly be implicit in the LMM5 release. It's intended, however, that LMM5 will be the last main release.
The idea of creating 2 utilities for LMM5 is threefold -
- to make it a bit easier to understand
- to differentiate between people using LMM for creating a mods and the recipients of such mods (as such recipients will require LMM5_Tga to build the large maps on there own PC's
- to obviate the Windows memory problems which is really the reason for versions 1) and 2) above
When it's available I suspect it may be a good idea to retain the previous 2 versions for posterity and put LMM5 in some download area by itself (I mean 'removed' from previous versions of LMM).
One thing to note. There are some old examples downloadable that date back to the 1st versions of LMM. I know some people have used these examples with later versions so you may choose to retain these. However, with LMM5 the intention is to provide a complete "set" of 2 utilities, proper documentation and a few exampels that will make it self-contained. In other words, no one who downloads LMM5 should need to refer to previous version or examples.
I'm not sure if thats what you need to know.
When Barrocca receives the LMM5 versions I presume he'll gove the examples a quick test just to see if LMM5 works ok on W98 - at which you guys can determine what you wish to retain and what can go.
Where should it all go in the Orgs downloads? I have no idea, and it does'nt concern me ...
... as I'll never need to download it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Konnichiwa,
Thanks Wellington, this is very useful information.
Duke John, I was talking to any moderator in general.
All tools are at 3D, and most are at the mirror. But it appears that neither of them are 'satisfactory'. The main problem at 3D is service not available (for all). The mainproblem at the mirror is not complete. The problem for both is hard to find. Thus I will make one (extra) downloadlocation, which should not give any restriction to anyone (unless the host is down, which is not Telefragged there) for the best/most used tools. LMM is important, a BIFreader, there's a special LBM tool, Gnome uniteditor, CA Excel worksheets and a few others (that's why I need your voice). So, for nostaligia or experimenting, 3D has to be used. But to quickly grab the best tool, you won't have to go through much hassle. Sounds good?

Sounds excellent It really bugged me that when I was in the mood and got modding I couldn't continue because 3D downloads was down again. And then the inspiration just ebbed away, such a waste...
Cheers, Duke John

Hi TOsa,
Yes, it does sound good. In fact it sounds very good.
Having the most current workable versions of tools/utilties available in a small Org download area sounds like good sense to me. I know I've often got confused with Bifreader versions, and I'm sure other people get similarly confused with LMM versions and other tools.
Also, as most of these tools are relatively small downloads such a "dedicated latest tool versions" area should'nt impose too many bandwidth problems (I presume).
I think we'd all welcome that.
Just 1 Q.
Where should true BETA type offerings (tools/utilities) be uploaded to now? By BETA I mean versions of tools that are not yet ready for general release but offer enough content for interested parties to download, try out and offer feedback/ideas?
Welly
Konnichiwa Wellington san,
I'll start with it tomorrow.
Beta files are still best uploaded by using http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Uploaders/MTWbeta.php3 .
Those files are uploaded to this server not 3D.
It may be possible that other means/locations to upload will be added.
What's TEST_LukMapMaker_GUI_OCX.zip Wellington?

Hi Tosa,
This is the GUI (a small OCX that the user installs on his PC) that LMM uses as the user interface.
This zip just contains the OCX "wshltwtnonmodaldialog.ocx".
The history is that in the 1st version(s) I forgot to include it in the original LukMapMaker/LMM "packages" - so I uploaded it as a seperate Zip.
It may have been included in LMM3v3 and LMM4v1 but I can't really remember (Note - as this OCX has never changed once any user downloaded and installed it they could effectively ignore it for later versions of LMM).
It will certainly be included in the LMM5 zip.
For the time being I suggest it may an idea to retain it with these 2 versions.

Konnichiwa,
This is what I found thus far. Will make a description page later. http://www.mizus.com/Tools/Files .

My Norton Systemworks thinks that LLM is a malicious script. Is this simply because its a vbs file?
