In the MTW we had kings the sole rulers whose word was the law and thus we could take any decisions we wanted but in Rome at the period implemented there were democracies oligarchies and monarchies also he tribal system of the northern people. The question is will this going to be implemented realistically in the game or we will stick to the archon=king of a demokratic state. Is it too complicated to recreate democratic or other than monarchy sytem?

well, i think you are still the king, and everything you say counts, but that's that you want right? in ta game?. why whould you like your actions repealed, just think how when you move a army to attack your enemy or to a frienfly province to assit that province and the game decide not to do that, and then the enemy invade and u lose a good province?
and i heard somewhere that the senate is to the romans as what the pope is to as the catholics. they give u a command(ex-invade germania), u listen to them, u gain points, in fluence or something. on the other hand, if u don't listen to them, u will be in bad terms with the other roman factions. take in mind, that the game is still in the developing stage, and things can change without notice http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

i dunno much about RTW but i could imagine a wee pop up box saying something like there has been a vote in the senate about blah blah the votes were...
although the situation this would be used in i don't know, someone else can thnk of one

So it won't be like Civilization where the Senate could not allow a war or force a peacy treaty?
That's good and bad. The annoyance of not being able to do what you want vs. the desired realism is a tough juggle.
I think the best compromise is to make it kind of like the pope in MTW. If you are a good emperor it will have good effets on your empire, but if you are a bad emperor you risk revolts etc.
There should also be some ways around this too. Because in MTW you can just kill the pope and not worry again until he inevitably reappears.

I think it will be like the way bighairyman said it. It would give the game more flavor and depth that way

What im trying to say is that it would look rediculus if we could impose our will on the assembley of people of a demokratic state. Just imagine Pericles (YES I KNOW HE IS OUT OF THE TIME FRAME ITS JIST AN EXAMPLE)doing whatever he wanted without even askind Ecclesea (the assembley of people of Athens) about their decision that sounds more like todays demokratic desicions (war on irak-uk gov) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ...
I'd say that the senate should represent people's ideas about important things such as war peace and alliances. They should also make suggestions on some decisions perhaps . If you follow their favour you'll gain loyalty and influence if you dont you lose them. maybe make meetings to learn about the requests and their opinions about specific things.
