I have just watched the vid, and what can i say but omg http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif , those players...im sorry to say this, just plain friken sucked

A few choice coments i made was:

"Oh nice position there Rome, Wait...why are you leaving?"

"Oh thats smart...deploy your archers right up front http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif "

"better watch that Chariot charging right for you"

"Ok good, but here comes about a thousand more"

"And there go the archers"

"ahh the Roman cavalry Hey where the hell were you guys when your archers were getting their asses whooped?"

"Well their dead, nothing kills cav faster than a heavy cav charge to the back."

"Hmm they face a charge and they go into the turtle, thats smart http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif "

"Hey why y'all running? Your only outnumbered 6:1"

Now you'll see what we mean about them doing "Everything" Wrong

This should be an example of all of what NOT to do when your outnumbered

well aside from the players completly screwing up in every chance they had, i'd say the AI had a great game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif .

Gotta love how the remnant of the Roman Cavalry went charging after the Barbarian General, when anybody who plays mtw can tell you that if your army is pretty much dead, killing their general wont make a damn difference. This isnt AOE afterall

Anyhow, i did like the engine very impressive actuallly. and did i spy troops stretching from time to time? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well lets hope eps 3 will be much improved (by that i mean a team who actually knows a sword from a spear http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif )

It was great watching it...

The Legionaries did quite well, I saw plenty of Brits fall before them. That means the troops had the quality to win the battle.

I also noticed the chariots didn't really kill that many troops in their charges, they just pressed through and killed whatever the warrior on the back could kill in the passes. But cool still.

I also noticed the charged archers fought on long after they should have run.

My last (non-mentioned) point was when the legionaries routed.
The last view up at the crest with the few trees to the left. The 6-7 legionaries routing past from behind, looking like they ran from something quite scary. Then a few seconds later hundreds of wild, savage Brits came rushing after them... Looked great and scary at the same time. Really convincing that part.

Loved the video and seeing the RTW engine strut its stuff for 11 minutes but hated the battle. What a waste of time

Whether we're talking about MTW multiplayer or RTW via Time Commanders it's extremely frustrating watching total incompetents wield an army. I was rather shocked to see Boudicca and her chariots make quick work of the Roman general and his bodyguards. How the hell can chariots turn and react so quickly to a flanking cavalry charge??

I said it in the other TC thread in this forum and I'll say it again. TC better shape up and get COMPETENT players instead of these brain trusts they pulled off the street. Better yet do away with the AI altogether and have competent human vs. competent human action.

Perfect statement. If this had been a real battle, I believe the Roman general would end up listed among the causalties even if he didn't fall to an enemy blade. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Yeah that Celtic Cavalry outflanking manoeuvre was brutal... The AI really put the boot in, especially when they surrounded the Roman Cavalry and Infantry

Glad you guys can finally see the carnage... Jullius Caesar VS 60,000 Gallic warriors this week http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Am I doing something wrong? I registered and everything, but when I go to the Downloads page, I don't see any pics (they don't load) and I click on some that appear to be links, and I get 404-Page not found errors for every one. I see nothing in the center where you'd think the downloads would be.

Whats going on?

Actually nevermind, its in the Forum Downloads section http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif . Silly me thought it would actually be on the Downloads page. What was I thinking? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I watched it. Whoever played as the Romans is a newb. They basically marched a unit sideways (in terms of their enemy) and let that unit get attacked on its flank, while marching. Their cavalry was entirely too late engaging, and their archers looked to be shooting smoke at the enemy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Their forces were completely divided, and thats why they ran.

One of the things that strikes me as odd...people were just standing there getting hit and not even looking at the person hitting them. They'd get hit by a sword (towards the end) and then look the other way, not caring at all it seemed. I know if someone just cut me I'd flip out, not look the other way.

Here in the states - so no TC on TV for me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Anyway: question - Did they mention what ratio was used for army sizes in the on-screen battle?

I think the "actual" numbers were 60K Britons vs. 10K Romans. So, did they use a 1:10 ratio (7,000 men on screen) or something else?

Regards,
Barkhorn.

Catiline

looks rahter less than that. maybe 1-20

So 500 Romans vs. 3,000 Britons - that "sounds worse than 10K-60K
