This is not a command line switch, but if you put a blank text file named:
skipcredits.txt in your MTW directory, it will skip the starting credits and movies. This works in MTW 1.1. I don't know if it works in VI.
Hey tuopaolo that sounds really cool and I just tried it. Sadly it didn't work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif . I guess I'mm just gonna have to keep furiously pressing spacebar every time.

Hmmm it should work. I know it works for MTW 1.1 because I myself use it and it works. And it sounds like it works for VI also because there's a thread in the Main Hall started by WesW where a couple people indicate that they have used it for VI and it works.
Did you name the file
"skipcredits.txt"
or
"skipcredits.txt.txt"
?
That's the only thing I can think of. When you save a file using Notepad, it automatically adds ".txt" to the end of the file so if you typed in "skipcredits.txt" when you saved it, the file itself would be named "skipcredits.txt.txt" Depending on the version of Windows and your settings you may not actually see on the screen the second ".txt" Try right clicking on the file and select Properties and double check the name.
"To turn off AI control press the number key for your faction."
What this does, pressing CTRL+ a number, is switch player control from faction to faction for the first 10 factions. Shift+ number controls factions 11 to 20. I think the factions come up in the same order they are listed in the campaign file.
This is the most useful of all the switches, imo, because you can ckeck out everything about every faction.
I posted a list and fairly detailed description of all the switches that seemed useful in the initial post of the Medmod 3.06 beta thread. If it's not there, then it's in the 3.08 thread.
Quote[/b] (WesW @ Oct. 04 2003,15:24)]In your VI desktop shortcut, rt-click, and under Properties, either add the command -ian, or replace the word "strictserver" with "ian" (keep the hyphen).
This enables God mode, which in turn enables a number of other commands. While in God mode:
The F5 key toggles the Scenic tour, which I think lets you see improvements or army composition everywhere.
CTRL+I toggles the inset map and screen panels.
The default for this is on so you don't have to worry about it.
The letter "a" puts the game in autorun, meaning the AI plays as all factions. I haven't tried it, but I assume the combo of it and the Scenic tour will let you view all AI moves. The letter "c" may do the same thing as "a".
The # or ' keys let the AI take over your faction, so that you can see what it decides to make and do.
The most useful switch, imo, is the combo of either CTRL or Shift and the numbers at the top of the keyboard, 0-9.
They let you change the faction you control. CTRL does the first ten factions, and Shift the next ten.
The g key toggles God mode on and off, so that you can resume playing the game normally. This works for saved games as well.
Thus, if you want to do some really good observing really fast, toggle on God mode, let the game autorun for a while to see the general strategic changes, and then use the switches to control each of the factions.
You can then see what they are building, what they aren't building, their troop strength and composition, and their current economic status.
WesW's other notes,
reposted here for easy access,
thanks for IM'ing them to me Wes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
