Well, for the first time I'm having an inquisitor problem http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

After playing tons of campaign, I finally had an AI faction (Italian) using its inquisitor (rank 3) to kill off my rank 5 and 6 Sicilian generals.

So how do you stop these guys? Assasination?

Right now I'm just stacking all my high ranking generals in the same stack as my king thinking that will make only the king targetable (and that would be a hard target).

Attack him with all your Asassins. The more, the better chance to kill him.

Heh... yeah I just did...

A newbie assasin did him (rank 3, 24% chance) in 1 try... Now I got a 3 star assasin http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I also just launched a retaliatory (spelling?) inquisition campaign against the italian http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also, put a bishop in every province - it reduces the chance of a successful inquisition.

Having a priest of your own in the same province lowers the success rate of an inquisition, I believe.

I know that is about how to get rid of the little buggers but I love inquisitors. If I know that I am going to invade a catholic faction's lands I blanket the provinces with them. I do the same thing with catholic factions that attack me frequently. I use up there good generals, assinate their bishops and watch as thousands die in their provinces each year.

Just so you know, stacking them under a 'safe' leader won't protect them. The AI's inquisitor can choose ANY unit in the stack for his inquisition.....

Last week a 4 star Spanish inquisitor was systematically barbecueing all my command staff in Northern Europe. My lame Danish assassins had developed a compelling urge for getting executed in Moldavia and bishops didn't seem to help either, so at least I flooded my provinces with cardinals, and after a while the inquisitor get bored and went away.

Hehe, the best solution for Spanish inquisition are the 5 star Syrian assassins that you can buidl (if you have Syria that is, and if you teched up the assassin tree). Not much stands in their way, be it inquisitor, princess general or king. Those guys ROCK.

But seriously, if the presence of bishops does not discourage the Inquisition then you have to use assassins. Hope this helps.

Vanya sez... Worry not about men in funny frocks running around. Should they absolve some poor sap general of yours, you can be assured that he will gain much piety as a result of his trials. Should be find himself skewered or barbecued... well, he was a heretic anyway

Vanya suggests using your own inquisitor to try another for heresy. Makes for good verbal volleys if nothing else.

I could be wrong but I believe the A.I. does this when it had that unit targeted before it made it into that stack just as the same that happens for me

Ahh yes, once targeted there's no escape.

Well then considered my "stacking" method a preventive one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Seems logical but I can't verify it. I noticed this when I saw one of my leaders declared innocent. When I looked to check who it was, I found him to be a mercenary unit leader in a stack. So, it's unlikely he was ever exposed singly.

LOL first time I come across an AI that cheats more than I do. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
