Ok

I have just created a new unit following the instructions given on this forum. This was the first unit created for a clean install, and everything worked well. No crashes, all the weapons appeared, the the guys fought properly.

I do it again, creating my second unit following the exact same process, AND IT REFUSES TO APPEAR.

I have used to Gnome Editor to tailor this new soldier specifically for a certain civilisation. Everything is correct. I've followed all the instructions and double checked my work. IT SHOULD APPEAR WHEN I GO TO SELECT A NEW ARMY FOR A CUSTOM BATTLE.

PLEASE HELP ME

First we can conclude that you did something wrong. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Next the problem lies within the produnit.txt file. To debug this, I think you can better delete the unit entry line and enter it again with the following method:
1. Just change the name; run MTW
2. Make the unit faction specific; run MTW
3. Edit the rest of the stats; run MTW

If it still doesn't work then you made even more mistakes http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

what i do is make a copy of an existing unit and change the name,
remember to add the required text in loc/eng/names.txt and loc/eng/descriptions.txt and add the battle/uniticons lbm, the campmap/infopic/units bif, the campmap/reviewpanel/units bif.
test that works, MAKE A ZIP of the unit prod so i can make a rollback,
then i change faction associations and ensure culture (if required) is assigned,
test that works, MAKE A ZIP of the unit prod so i can make a rollback,
then i begin altering capability stats...MAKE A ZIP of the unit prod so i can make a rollback

my latest mod i have a folder with about 100 zip files, all labelled so i can rollback as far as i need to,
when i am happy mod works 100% i'll lose them, but not before...

good luck,
B.

Thanks for the help. I put a description in the Description.txt file and it works fine now.

Go figure.
