How Do I Create Custom Battles

I had an slow but crushing HRE army (high valor/armor GK's, GS's GFK's)in a campaign, and I'd like to use them in a custom battle. The MTW Custom Battle in the game won't give me the $$$ to create 4 units of 9 valor gothic knights, let alone the rest of my army. So I was looking to create a battle where I could edit the armies, save them, and load the battle like I would a Historic Battle or Campaign. Thanks.

You could make an Historical Battle and tailor it to your own wishes. As far as I am aware, that would work. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Being a complete newbie at this, is there a page somewhere detailing how to make a historical battle?
