Why? Why? Why? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

I was all psyched.... I bought VI yesterday and I loaded it on my machine. Okay, ready to go. Oops, I had loaded Wes' Mod pre-VI. No problem, I will just remove TW from my machine and reload

One little problem. It looks like someone took heavy grit sandpaper to my disk one So I get 3% into my load where it is add .wav files and it can get at one of files and the load fails. WHY DID I REMOVE IT FROM MY MACHINE

What can I do in this situation????? Does Activision do a CD exchange or something? This might be a big no no (and if so someone please tell me so) but could someone out there burn a new disc 1 for me? I would email my key to prove that I am a valid owner of the game.

Any suggustions?

Wobegone,

You can probably get a replacement disk from Activision. Email them explaining the problem and asking what steps you need to take to get a replacement. It will probably involve you sending the whole box back to them, discs and all to prove you bought a valid copy, or they may accept a till receipt if you have one. No need to panic, it'll just take a week or two.

Cheers,

Blackie.

The only problem with that is that I bought the game in May. That means no receipt and no box. I have the 2 disc jewel case and the books and tech chart though.

I just wonder whether it would be cheaper to go buy a replacement on ebay.

Prolly quicker to go to eBay. All you may need is the CD key for Activision, but who knows unless you contact them?

Good luck

Blackie.

If you have a movie rental store near you, there might be a chance they have a machine for removing scratches from DVDs. For a small fee, they might fix your CD.

Alternatively, you can buy a CD scratch removal kit from a music store, but they can be quite expensive.

All the alternatives mentioned are good. I'd start with getting a CD repair kit (If you have a lot of CDs you'll use it anyway), then check with the local movie rental store. Next I'd check with Activision - you've waited this long, what is another couple of weeks? Lastly, ebay.

Good luck.

Hey, thanks everyone

I had no idea you could actually repair CDs I will have to check into that.

The video store and contacting activision are also a great idea. As I recall I did actually register the first time I loaded the game.

Thanks.
