View Full Version : New and looking for help
Hi folks Cant believe I finally registered to post on the forums. It's not like I beeen using the site a lot ... honest http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.
Okay the bones of the question is simple. How do u allocate a new projectile stat to an edited unit? I used Gnome to create and edit the stat but when I look at the projectile type it says SBOW and not shortbow, which is the only name reference I can find in Gnome http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif.
Can anyone help or point me to some post that might ?

And that's it - the place where is SBOW is where you assign projectile type :SBOW, MTLG, ARQB, XBOW , and all that other stuff. So changing in this column changes unit's projectile. And welcome newbie http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
Thanks Eastside My problems come from the refrence to the projectile stat. With the Gnome editor the coloum is headed projectile type, below this it has PROJECTILE { SBOW }. I have tried simply adding a new projtile type into the appropraite txt file but when I try to link to this the game doesn't recognize the refernce.
Does anyone know where this refernce is generated or has anyone sucessfully made a new projectile unit with a completly ne wweapon ?
I don't think it's actually possible to add a completely new projectile weapon.
But, if you want a different projectile weapon (other than SBOW, MTLG, LONG, XBOW etc), edit the 'ninjastar' line, which isn't used in the game. A good start is to copy everything from the shortbow line into the ninjastar line and adjust accordingly. To use for your missle units, change to PROJECTILE_TYPE( NINJ ). One point, you do get arrows rather than shuriken(sp?).
One thing though is not to use it for a horse archer. Perhaps it's just me, but every time I've changed a horse archer's projectile weapon to something other than MTLG, they don't skirmish properly.
Thanks Qilue http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif With your advice I can now make some 'interesting' archers ......... MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
