I was always wondering - all those guys tell all those stories about how big armies they had, how enormous in size were their empires, etc.

What was the highest annual income that you had. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
I can say about myself that I had sth like 15000 f. per year once playing as the Byzantines. How about you? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
In my first game as the Spanish on Normal I had an income of 32,000 Fl. Only lasted for about 10 years before war took it down to -5,000 Fl, which is also my lowest ever amount.
I can consistenyly get up over the 10,000 Fl level but find it harder to stretch up to 15,000 and beyond, especially for long periods, trade is too easy to disrupt.

The highest ive had was 35000 fl in my Byz campaign. And that was even with me having 5 stacks of mercenary troops sitting in Khazar. I didnt know what to do with all that money http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Currently, in my Turk SP Expert game i have 13000 fl with every province taxed on Normal lvl only it would be quite a bit more on Very High methinks.
I find that 10000 fl income is easy enough to get. But it does require some primitve form of trade.

As the Turks in my current campaign, I control a lot of valuable & profitable land right now: the original Turk provinces all have pretty good farmland, plus I have Khazar, Antioch, Tripoli, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Sicily, Sweden, Norway & Flanders, and some other provinces in between (I control everything from Khazar south through Arabia and west to Morocco) - Since my borders were pretty short - I only need good sized armies in Khazar, Anatolia, Trebizond and Morocco, as well as Denmark and Flanders. All those provinces in the middle east and north africa had small garrisons of cheaper troops and my army had no mercs. Most of my farmland was 80%. I had income of around 45,000 florins a year for a little while... and was up to well over 3,000,000 florins in total.

My highest so far is 32,000 and change, on normal as the English. Of course, this was only for 10 or 15 years or so. The Byzantines, the only other major power, decided they didn't like the way my ships turned left and attacked me out of the blue.
Even so, I'm still making around 3,000 per turn, which is respectable.
Now the game is fun again I've already launched 3 crusades and fought several major battles. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Just yesterday, Vanya was playing as the Byzantines. Vanya had just gone through about 100 years of peace http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif The Empire was making SOOO much money... Vanya was rolling in MANY, MANY millions... so much that the digits started taking up the WHOLE width of the money box
Then, to Vanya's surprise, a window popped up and said something like this:
"Haven't you made enough money by now, you greedy bastard? Get on with it and take your neigbor's lands Your wealth and greed are so legendary by now that all your neighbors believe that you wipe your arse with gold Nobody will now ally with you, and all nations have decided to rid the world of your greedy kind. Prepare for a massive attack by a coalition of all the nations which you have ostracized with your extravagance GAH"
This was not a problem for Vanya, as Vanya had well over 250,000 men in his armies. anyway, the highest i have were over 60,000. i was egypt. egypt was making 3,500 per year, topilliand the province north of it was making 3,000 per year each. sicily was also making 3,000, constaniople was making 3,200 per year. kiev was making 2,000 per year. flanders was making 1,500 per year. all my other provinces were maing 600-1,000 per year. i had the whole north africa, rome, sicily, egyapt all the way to the boundary of turks. constaniople form rebels. and most of russian lands. plus 4 provinces in france. i think i had about 30-40 provinces.

Well, I am a trading madman, always acquiring provinces through invasion or dynastic claim which have tradeable goods, and having merchant fleets everywhere, I once had an anual income of 97,000 florins a year, and that was as the Russians, Late Period. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (after I had gained all my land back from those damn Mongols of course). http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif pat for me 97,000 a year, he-he (Hey, I rhymed!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
As the holy roman empire busy conquering europe and fighting muslims with hardly any other kingdoms to trade with despite ruling the seas my necessarily huge armies have plunged me into debt to the tune of 150,000. which is impressive before my war with Egypt started I was making vast sums of cash and the oh-so crap strategic AI will not make peace despite their obviously impending doom. Just like in shogun the end game is flawed.

You know, the ai's refusal to make peace isn't so bad. They know, you see, that if they do make peace, it'll just be a chance for you to recover and whack them again. Is any human player going to give up whacking the ai? No matter how logn they're at peace for? Not likely http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I've never had a very high annual income as the English. I always spend all my money on buildings and troops. I'm a horrible spendthrift, I know...

in my now new game, english early. my 2 most proitable provinces are flander and sicily. flander is making 39?? florines a year and sicily is making 3,679 florinces a year.
and my toal probite is 20,000 florinces a year

Are you guys talking profit or total income? I can't say I notice total income much, just the net profit.
