Don't know if someone mentioned this before, so I'll just put my thoughts about an idea here.

Ever got annoyed by the endless supply of messages being thrown at you? Well how about if instead, like the previous games, you got a summary of what's been done, for example: an emmisary has been assassinated or a building has been completed all in one nice list (who/what/where).
This way you'll have an easier view of your turn's activities instead of seeing separate messages which you constantly have to press through, which can be a true annoyance (imo).
It might help speed up the strategic map aspect some bit.

Ofcourse I've also read that there are people who wish the short cinematics to return like there were in Shogun: Total War. And this could ofcourse be in confliction with that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Anyways I'd rather have a summary then those cinematics or maybe it could be made an option to choose whether you want a summary or separate messages with an occational cinematic (if those return with Rome: Total War) depending on what happend.

Any comment on this idea? Whether you like it or not and why? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Ok, first off there is already a way to put all those anoying messages into summaries (for MTW). When you start a campaign click that Arrow that is beside the Mini map and you will see a menu pop up, take the X off of "Display noncritical messages". By unchecking that box all your build/assasin/agent reports will be compiled into a few lists at the end of each turn.

as for short cinimatics, it has been confirmed by CA that the in game cinimatics will return. However, instede of Assasination they will be there for the capturing of Wonders. i.e you smash an egyptian army near the pyramids, after the battle is won you will see your vitorious troops marching infront of those same Pyramids.

Huh really? It was already there? Hmm next time I should take a better look http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Edit: Forget what I wrote before this, because I just saw the summary. Never knew that and I have this game for over a year http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif Never knew I would see a summary if the display non-critical messages was turned off. Thought it would just do what it says. I have to admit I never fully read through the manuals of my games. So my bad http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Anyways, maybe even put enemy/allied movements in a summary? Could be handy for a quick overview of what has happend in the nearby area.

Might also be an idea to make use of a history system where you can constantly look at what has happend throughout your campaign. Or is something like this already implemented in RTW? Can't remember reading about it in the RTW FAQ of the devs.
