Im currently working on a gaming mod for VI based on the 100 Years War. The mod is in the VERY early stages of development, so it is quite a long way off.
So far I have a new campaign map (thanks to Wellington) and a few new units, mainly from the ORGcommunityUnitsMod.

What I would like is some info on possible units, that I can add to my mod.
So far I have
- Welsh Longbowmen
- Welsh Spearman
- Flanders Pikemen
- Brittanyjavelins
Genoese crossbowmen (crossbows and no pavise)
ADDITIONAL UNITS TO maybe ADD
-English FootKnights
-Burgundian lighthorse (Coustillers)
-Gascon spearmen
-Flemish militia (Clubs with spikes)
-- give more thought on Genoes Crossbows (might end up with 4 units 2 with crossbows and two with arbs - as well as two with pavise and two without)
- Franc Archers
- Gascon crossbowmen

Very nice, Shadeswolf. It looks good. I have a suggestion for the campaign map. Seeing as the 100 years war was fought for more than 100 years, I think there should be more provinces. Overall, I can't see anything that needs changing. I do have some ideas for units:
Elite Wessex Knights
Mercian Swordsmen
Mercenary Spearmen
London Militia
Good job on the mod so far http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi TheSilverKnight the map covered all of France, and includes Aragon and Navarre. It also just about touches on the north west tip of what is now Italy. If my memory serves me I think I have about 30 provinces in France. Aquataine is split into two and I have a lot around Burgundy.
At the moment Im planning on have two or three starting dates to cover the entire period of the 116 years. Most prob split into
- Early 1338 - 1369,
- Mid 1370 to 1415
- and Late prob 1415 to 1453.
Thanks for the suggestions for units, they should do quite nicely.
I just now neer to assign/ create some specific units for
- Aquataine/ Gascony
- More for Brittany
- More for Flanders
- Burgundy.
I am thinking about making Brittany/ Flanders either rebel provinces at least in early or assigning them as seperate factions.....

Its looking good Shades. The Gascon spearmen were very tough. Burgundian lighthorse called Coustillers were particularly renown for there fighting ability.
Also in a thread in the entrance hall some time back called units you would like to see in VI( or something to that effect) a lad from belgium or holland talked of a Flemish units with clubs with spikes. I forget the name but they sounded very good
Good luck with it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I'd make those rebels extra factions. Always helps.
Plus, maybe the England part of the map could extend upwards? Northumbria does give some income to England so I think it'd help. Also during the 100 years war the English had some troubles with Scots invasions (Braveheart showed this, albeit totally innaccurately).
Also I know the English got a lot of troops from Ireland, most notably thats where Hobelars are from.
But anyway, its your mod and it looks like the map took a lot of work (looks awesome BTW) so adding in provinces would seem a lot of extra work.
Maybe you should add in FootKnights as buildable units (Agincourt)
Another unit I can think of is mercenary Genoese crossbowmen.

Nice ideas guys.....

I had forgot to put Geonoes crossbows in the list, I curretnly have one added, but im thinking of making it into four units, ie
Genoese Crossbow
Genoese Crossbow & Pavise
Genoese Arb
Genoese Arb with Passive.
Good comments about Ireland and Scotland, unfortunately I did not create the map, you need to thank WELLINGTON for doing that. I can get around the unit problem by making those units available only in certain provincs, ie Irish Hobs only available in Wales which must include a port and a production time of +1 to allow for them to cross the sea.

Apart from Nevilles cross in 1346 the scots, although raiding was common from both sides of the border, rarely threatened English security during HYW.
At Nevilles Cross the scots were soundly beaten, and apart from Otterburn(1388) Homilden Hill(1402) and Scottish soldiers serving in France at Cravant and Verneuil for example, they didn't really play a major part in the proceedings.
Shades, in the Beta of my mod i think i did a Gen crossbowman, your welcome to use it. Also i did Powis infantry, and seeing as the Welsh infantry were frequently involved in HYW particularly at Crecy and the siege of Caen(1346) you could use those.
Good luck with the mod

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif Good man shades
I'm not sure if i've done anymore you could use. Err...I can't remember what i put in I believe i did Basque infantry or warriors. I also did Irish foot soldiers and lowland clansmen and Scottish Pikes, if you wanted to use them in a mercenary capacity. Any others that are useful to you throw them in the mod. Have you any idea for a release? Beta or full version?

Im miles away from even thinking about that. Time is currently a problem, new program just started on TV and Football have washed most of this weeks work out.
For Thursday we start a Stock take at work which will take up my entire weekend, 15 hour days etc....
Im currently trying to find new units to put in. IVe found a number of good wargame website, so im doing a little research on what types of units. Currently investigating Franc-Archers......
I will do a little more stuff on resources and trade good tonight, allocvating them to provinces and place building in provinces etc.....
My main problem at the momnet is gettting enough new heroes into the game, so many generals I want to add, I might have to create a new unit type with maybe 5 men in it for the general, so not to cause to many superior units.
Once I have got all the provinces sorted out and decided on all the factions, I could do some type of release, but at this early stage it wont be much good, I wouldnt expect.....

One of the problems in including Scotland in the map would be that it would'nt fit on The 100YW map is actually a portion of the MTW map increased by 200% (ie : 4 times the original area), so there is'nt a great deal of space left in terms of height (you could probably get Ireland on but you certainly would'nt get all of Scotland in).
Also the idea was just to have a mini campaign, with 40 or so provinces, that was small enough to be playable but large enough to be realistic. The map was really only created as an example of how to use LMM to create/change/amend campaign map stuff for MTW so thank ShadesWolf for volunteering to take this further.

Yes m8, any stuff you could send me would be great, thanks.....
As for books http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I have a habit of buying every book I see on the subject, and I must admit both of his books are awesome, I hope he lives long enough to complete the entire history.
