I don't know...maybe its just me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

My last 5 campaigns have only been able to continue because I .unfreeze. an heir. Now I have seen it happen before, but this seems a little ridiculous.

Maybe your rulers have the V&V 'butt ugly' :P

Yep that perversion vice really can suck. Hey who cares if it was some nobody that knocked up the queen at leat you have an heir

Improve the genetic pool by ensuring that all heirs marry a foreign princess, the offspring of such a union tend to be 6 star warriors with decent acumen who shag like rabbits. Marrying the locals will produce crack-brained perverts with the sex drive of a brick.

You mean... shag like hopalongbunny rabbits?

I agree with Drucius. I know it is a drag to turn your emissaries into pimps and send them out to troll for chicks for your worthless sons, but you gotta do it or end up with grandkids that are even more inbred and worthless than the heirs that you sired yourself.

That has to be the most apt description of the role of Emissaries in my games... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

My Bishops are often used as diplomats because they are seldom assassinated as much in enemy territory.

Emissaries only exist as "Pimps" (and for doing dodgey deals with rebel generals to get them to join with me) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

well, my last 3 english kings all marry local people. althought, each heir they produce ahs at least 1 vice, they all turn out to be decent, they are either 8 star,6 valour warriors, or no star no valour 8 acumen bussiness men. and by the way, my current king has 7 heirs. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

by the wway, anyone playing the english notice that the english ruling family's last name is planetnetage.(or so something like that) all those prince who turn to non royaltis, have this last name http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, Plantagenet was the name of one the English dynastys in real life. I don't see why it is so http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif tho http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Good tip on the marrying foreign princesses, I didn't know that.

My most prodigious producer of heirs had the Perversion vice, and he had 7 sons and 2 daughters.
The Danes tend to be the horniest. In a current Succession Game thats all they have, 15 units of Royal Knights. The King, 6 Heirs (High Royals) and 8 Early Royals. All sitting quietly in Denmark.

I tried marrying foreign princesses and it worked wonders. My Italian King married a Hungarian and his brother married a Pole. The line went from 2 star, 1 Acumen Chinless wonders to 5 star, 4 Acumen Killers. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Damn I never knew you could do that,i've just lost my Byzantine campaign and I could of won it whenever I wanted to but I stopped expanding about 70 turns ago so the cpu would start sending 4-6 stack armies and I could have some real battles, does this just spawn an heir or can you freeze your kings age? I don't normally cheat but this is the fourth time in a row that the 56 bug has ended my campaign http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif if I lose in battle I can take it,I had the chance and blew it but being nailed by a barren king is starting to tick me off.Glad to know i'm not the only one repeatedly losing in this manner

Well, I don't think I've been caught out by a seedless king in any of my last 5 campaigns and can recall it happening only once since I bought the game in the week it came out. I've always made it a policy to get my heirs married off to as many foreign princesses as soon as possible and it's always paid off - so far.

The .unfreeze. cheat simply ensures that your kings wife has a male baby in the next turn.

Only once as a Dane have I lost a campaing due to no heirs, and I must say it was really disappointing.
I've heard the HRE doesn't have that kind of problems. If no heirs are availabe, then an older prince is elected.
Shouldn't we be given the chance to at least have a civil war between rival royal factions, like in real life, before the game kicks us out.

Republican factions like the Italians and the Swiss shouldn't have heirs anyway (or princesses, for that matter). I wonder if it could be modded...

Yup http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Its a game saving feature Check your heirs, if you don't have any by age 39 type .unfreeze. and the next turn your wife will drop an heir.

BTW, had to do it in latest campaign making 6 in a row; the Spanish conquest will continue http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

As for being butt ugly I represent that statement http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

@ Drucius and Hop Along Bunny Thanks it'll save me in the future,I was going to wait for the patch before I started again but I don't need to anymore, the reinforcement bug doesn't bother me as I rarely use them and if I do I can work round it, its just a test of generalship IMHO.

I've lost one campaign because of that bug. My king got 10 daughters and on son that was 14 at the kings death. It was the second generation in a danish campain so it didn't matter much.
Actually I like that the kings die young because I hated it when your king lived to 78 and the cownprince was in his fourties and couldn't marry any foregin princesses because no one wanted to.
But I admit that the 56-year but has caused me to sometimes give my crownprince the secret incest vice, something I never did before.

I was playing a HRE campaign recently and my Emperor died without an heir of age. My entire kingdom must have defaulted to someone else's control because no province I had owned was mine. I could only control my fleet and my agents. Very weird.

I thought that because I was playing HRE, the next best general would be elected, but that apparently wasn't the case. Maybe it had to do with who my Emperor was married to, like the princess of another faction who inherited the lands.

But, the really interesting thing is, since I had done a quicksave before I ended the turn, I reloaded and Ended the year without making ANY changes at all, and that time, the crown was given to my most capable general. Different outcomes. There must be some sort of randomization in the code.

Anyway, didn't matter much in about 10 years as one of the original Emperors sons became Emperor anyway and the lineage continues even now.
