I have seen it said that no honor is gained by killing a fleeing man. I wonder - does that only apply for japanese? I have not ever seen a japanese unit gain honor mowing down fleeing men, but I just played the mongol campaing as mongol and guess what - I had multiple MLC units gain honor during a killing spree on fleeing japanese units. When the samurai broke - all my MLC were still honor 0, and by the end I have 4 honor 1 and 1 honor 2 MLC groups.... The entire Hojo army broke at the same moment, so the honor gain had to come from fleeing men...

Anyone care to duplicate this, or know if this restriction applies to japanese troops but not to mongols?

Half honour is scored for killing a router.
Half honour is scored for a shooting kill
Half honour is scored for a samurai killing an Ashigaru
Double honour is scored for an infantryman killing a cavalryman.
Lots of honour is scored for killing a taisho or daimyo.

If there are any other variations, I can't remember them offhand.

Indeed! Thanks LJ2. This explains why slaughtering those hordes of running ashi doesnt contribute much - cuz per that model a running ashi is like 12.5% of a face to face kill. 100%/2 for him being infantry = 50% of honor - 50%/2 for him being ashi =25% honor - 25%/2 for him running away = net worth of a fleeing ashigaru - 12.5% of a h2h cav kill if using (as an example) YC.

Excellent model - the way it ought to be!
Of course - its wise to slaughter em anyway -although the honor is small - thats less men that can fight u next season...

BSM - he didn't say 1/2 honor for cavalry killing infantry...he said double for infantry killing cavalry...

So the routed Ashis would give 25% honour to a pursuing cav unit, or 12.5% honour to an archer...

I like the system too...

Yeah, that's why I always focus on killing off those fleeing gun units.

As far as unit honor's concern, that's what infrastuctures are for. Or the generals' job.

Well, we can say that killing fleeing ashigaru with YC is about 1/8 worth of killing a mounted soldier with your WM.

But cav is an easy kill for YS or NAG.
Also l have seen units gaining honor for chasing enemy units and especially cav units that are the ultimate chasing units.

Don't use only honour, use theforce, too.

longjohn2, where did you find this Honor/Kill ratio info?

Sorry but i never understood the honor system of TW series. Sometimes my men kills few hundreds, and yet they gain no honor.

And i think up to honor 5 from 4 must be much harder than up 1 from 0.
