I have started reading logfies for single player games and find them quite usefull. If you have never seen one they are in the MTW/logfile dir, and can be read with any text processor like WordPad or NotePad.
I am writing a logfile reader program, mostly because I have a lot of time on my hands, being self UNemployed.
See thread here: Logfile Thread in the Dungeon (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=11605)
What I need is some advice. Since I don't play a lot of MP games, I would like to get some input from the MP community on what features you would like to see in a logfile reader program. Any and all sugestions would be welcome. Thanx in advance.

..
even though there are a couple of readers.. MrWhipple do not be discourage.. come up with a better one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif
For me:
1. Quick loading.
2. Simple layout.. i.e. no scrolling needed to view 16 units at least.
3. Do not take up the whole screen.
4. Able to intelligently link the logfile with my replay file via the timestamp.
5. Option to rename the replay files to match the corresponding logfile automatically
6. Option to enable the different stats displayed
7. Option to accept user-specified formula to compute scores, e.g. effectiveness = total cost of kills / total cost of killed, much like excel formula.
8. Able to sort.
9. Able to do file copy/paste/move on the GUI via click-n-drag, as well as renaming file.
10. Program is small in size.
11. Free-of-charge.
12. Able to collect performance from logfiles for players, e.g. average kills per game, win:loss ratio, etc.
13. Able to identify logfiles of dropped game, i.e. 0kills/killed, and delete them.
thats all.. should be simple uh?
Freedom Fighters Free Log File Reader. Bring weapons to the mass:
For VI v2.0 and higher:
Log reader version 1.2c with MTW/VI stats info included (http://www.thiep.com/cgi-bin/ffmtw/logread12.pl)
For MTW V1.1 or V2.0:
Log reader, basic version (http://www.thiep.com/cgi-bin/ffmtw/logread.pl)
Working a list similar to yours, tootee, but with the pace I am doing (uh... should i play online or should I work on the program, that sort of thing, and you guess what wins), I guess that will be ready in time for RTW (and they perhaps would change the format of the stats/logfiles http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )
Similar to what Tootee said, there are many logfile readers out there, with slightly different ways to represent data. I developped mine, nevertheless, in hope some features will get into future logfile readers, making the latter a better one.

some situation here Ann lol.. and I decided that playtime is more important.. I know someday someone will develop the ideal reader http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanx for all the great ideas. You have given me a lot to work on. I knew I could count on the great org community to help out a poor chap with a yen to program.
Hm tootee said it all I think..
Being able to search all logfiles for florin levels, units used.. is all I can think of to add.
